  1. Two consecutive games now where Nick Green has driven in the go-ahead run.
  2. I kinda agree. Brown hit well last year, and at least maintained a good OBP this year, and is supposed to be a good backup catcher. He's worth a flier and this might be a favor to Brown to help him latch on with another team even if he can't stick here.
  3. Overbay isn't that great, but he's there in case Butler bombs. He's a competent defensive 1B with good offensive skills and average power, and bats lefthanded to balance Butler, who sucks against righthanded pitching. A bit of a meh pick, but he fills a need. Since both of them have distinct platoon splits, the THEORY is that between them I should have a good solution at 1B
  4. Lyle Overbay, 1B
  5. That's pure nonsense Chica. He's terrible this year but he was very good the previous 2.
  6. I had my eye on Aybar too. I could use a backup 1B with a bit of flexibility and clout.
  7. Logic fail. They drafted, developed, and have committed themselves to Dustin Pedroia, a walking contradiction to your argument.
  8. Richmond is a good value buy as a swingman and injury insurance. I'm not exactly sure where the Jays got him from but he's been a good investment for them and his apparent ability to move in and out of the rotation at need is useful. It's very possible Richmond may eventually supplant Bush as my #5 but right now, swingman is what he is in real life and swingman is what he is on my anti-fantasy roster.
  9. I wouldn't say so, no. His pick is still available, yes? That means it's my turn. Add Scott Richmond to my bullpen please.

  11. EDIT: Saw ORS pick and thought it was my turn.
  12. Yes, but it's like putting Youkilis at short and calling him and MVP candidate because hey, he's a shortstop who can hit. If your best skills have to compensate for suck in other areas you're not the MVP and you might not even be playing in the right role.
  13. Which makes it useful as a tiebreaker but not as bargaining leverage. Papelbon wants it clear that while he'd like to stay here, he isn't taking a discount for the privellege.
  14. Well if that was the standard I'd have to use clay Buchholz' no no,.
  15. It's a fact. Other than that one game, all I know about Pedro is his reputation and how he handled himself in the playoffs in 2004 when he was already somewhat past his peak. not bad, but not at all vintage Pedro I know he's fallen off severely since, and that warps our opinions in retrospect but at his peak, Garciaparra lost nothing in a comparison with Manny offenseively, added a speed on the basepaths Manny never had, and played SS, which he defended better than Manny ever defended LF.. If only he hadn't gotten hurt. he may not have had the best overall career of a player I saw in action. But he was still the best player I saw in action.
  16. Never been to a game. I simply can't afford it. I never actually saw Pedro on live TV except for one game. 2003. Game 7. ALCS. So the best gut I saw in action, even on TV, is either Roger Clemens or Nomar Garciaparra.
  17. Idiotic. No wonder there isn't a fourth movie.
  18. Oh lordy... tell me they didn't. Half of the impact of the Major League movies came from the fact that they were depicting a lifestyle that 75% of the male population dreams about living. Minor league baseball isn't even a poor man's shadow of that. I mean, it's bad enough to commit absolute character murder on Roger Dorn, but you're shooting your own foot making a movie called "Major League" and having it not be about MLB.
  19. There was a third one? I've honestly never even heard of it before. Was always hoping they'd do a 15 years later sorta sequel, as the stars' careers were winding down and they had to make way for the next wave and half of them were gone to other teams. maybe even one of the old stalwarts wound up on a team they were trying to chase or something. The one source of drama they never tapped was seeing an old friend in the playoffs and having it be all war. Or maybe having to deal with a Chuck Finley type owner who was constantly muddling things up and trying to stick his hand in where it wasn't needed.
  20. Plz not yankees. that would be a total gutpunch.
  21. Florida might sign him in an effort to actually put some butts in seats. Not a small dominican contingency around Miami.
  22. More importantly, anyone know what hotel the Nationals are staying at when they play in DC? Because I doubt they actually have the gall to show their faces on a daily basis around actual residents of the city they represent.
  23. i just found that movie cut up in bite-size pieces on Youtube. Original movie was great, the sequel sucked (they absoltely MURDERED my two favorite characters in ML2).
