  1. No comment necessary.
  2. And the Hawk is somewhere several orders of magnitude below all of them.
  3. Getting punched in the face is better than having a hole drilled in your head too.
  4. 1-0 Cubbies.
  5. Would be Soriano.
  6. With McDonand and Hall both able to back up CF, we don't need Fuld per se as long as one of McDonald and Nava are producing. The way Nava's looked in the last couple games I'm in *no* hurry to rush Hermida back, that's for dang sure.
  7. If a guy's hurt, he's hurt.

  10. if Nava clicks, that could be the answer.
  11. You can't look at Nava like a conventional drafted prospect. His age was high, but as ORS mentioned, his career track was fine Not all of the issues he's had are drawbacks either -- if nothing else, this is a kid that has had to struggle, I mean really struggle, to get recognition. That he's in the majors at all with the obstacles put up against him is pretty solid evidence that this is a kid that knows how to work and that can atone for a lot. As far as I'm concerned the only question is talent, and that's been on display every time he's gotten a chance to play I'm pulling for him and I bet he'll turn out well.
  12. :harhar: C'mon, I was preaching the kid when it wasn't popular, let me have my little moment. I think he could be a .270/.340/.420 hitter or better in the big leagues. Not much stretch of the imagination involved in projecting that and throw in the switch hitting and good 2-corner D and that's a useful backup.
  13. http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=8928383&query=%26game_pk%3D264739 he may not have come up with much fanfare, but he sure made some of his own. Everywhere he's gone in his career, no one thought he would hit, and he did it anyway. The guy isn't really much taller than Pedroia, but all he does is put the bat on the ball. Good for you, Daniel. No matter what happens from here on out, you have a place in the Fun Facts lorebook and a spot on the statsheets. Let's hope this kid gets a good long chance to pass or fail based on his own skills, because I think he can help us.
  14. They're talking about how Youks is really favoring his arm on the basepaths. Castigs thinks the HBP was on an elbow.
  15. Ohhhhhhh, crap. Castig saying Youks hit in the elbow with a pitch.
  16. 1.30 WHIP isn't all bad and the sample size dilutes the concern. Lester's WHIP was worse for most of his minor league career -- not really a fair comparison since Lester was promoted based on talent as much as performance but nonetheless... I also would like to see Doubront tried first in the pen, but in the Justin Masterson sense of the term -- put him in the pen but don't restrict him to just that forever.
  17. Call up Felix Doubront.
  18. I'll take Nava as a platoon guy. He'd play well in a David Murphy role. The switch-hitting is nice too, I've always had a soft spot for switch hitters. Considering that Nava is a UDFA out of amateur ball, anything you get is pretty much pure gravy.
  19. I've liked Nava for awhile but I don't think incredible power is part of the package. I think of this guy as someone who could go long 15 times in a good year, hit .290 and get on base at a .350 clip. Good 4th OF or borderline starting RF with a switch-hitting contact bat and solid D at the corners. What a way to open your big league career though. Wow.
