Consider that if Minnesota would have had a healthy Lariano this past season, they would have had probably the most potent 1 and 2 in the AL. Don't know if you'll get Santana, or Hunter, or both, but MN will most likely dump and re-build. They have one of the MOST effective farm talent programs in baseball. Why? Because they HAVE to. They can't afford to pay them once they fully develop. That's where the Yankees come in. Bosox too (see Josh Beckett).

Got me there. I guess a focus on re-building from within every 12 years or so when the FA pool dries up is sound strategy.

Point well taken. I think it is likely that Girardi will get the job. We'll see how long it takes for a meltdown. If things don't go well, then we know what Girardi is capable of - that's all I'm saying.
