  1. 2004 with Atlanta: .305, 31HR, 93RBI 2006 with L.A.: .283, 20HR, 100RBI 31 homers is good, and you always love to have a couple 30HR/100RBI guys on your team if you want to compete. But it's no reason to break the bank. Plus he's only produced well when he's looking for a contract...now he's locked in a long-term deal. Good luck with that.
  2. They've all put up at least one full season of All-Star numbers. Drew has yet to exceed the status of "serviceable".
  3. Am I reading this correctly? In '07: Dice-K is making $6-mil (excluding the ridiculous incentives and bonuses) Ortiz is making $12.5-mil Schilling $13-mil ...and Nancy Drew is pulling in $14 million?!? I want Scott Boras to convince the Pope that I'm the second coming of Christ...seriously.
  4. J.D. does put up some pretty good numbers on his paycheck. Not as bloated at A-Rod's, Jeter's...or any Yank for that matter, but it's still ridiculous. I'm trying to think of a professional athelete that was paid more for so many years without backing it up on the field (save for one season with the Braves - his contract year ...and even that didn't warrant the $55 million from the Dodgers). Can anyone link me to a sortable database of 2007 player salaries? I'm having a ton of trouble finding one.
  5. Good point - it's like mortgaging your house to buy a mail-order bride and then, upon meeting "her", discovering she's a disfigured transvestite with one less eye and limb than her pictures suggested. But, with such an investment, you think "okay, I'll give it some time...maybe she can cook." On the other hand, it didn't take two months for fans to get on Edgar's back, did it? It seems he was hearing the boo-birds in early May. Can't fault you personally, since you liked the guy - but still, it's kind of hypocritical of Sox Nation as a whole. Though in the fans' defense, they are generally playing much better and have a huge lead in the East.
  6. I'm astounded when considering how brutal Sawks fans were to Edgar Renteria when he came over to Boston - yet they still haven't run Nancy Drew out of town.
