  1. The Reds are set at 2B with Brandon Phillips and they have Ryan Freel who can go back to 2B with another CF/RF stepping up. The Reds would want him at 1B & as a utility infielder too.
  2. Could you possibly say any more inaccurrate things? In those 3-way deal scenarios with the Braves, MELKY CABRERA GOES TO THE BRAVES. The Pirates want the young cost controlled left-handed power from Adam LaRoche. That's Melky love alright ...
  3. Cabrera can't hang in CF & doesn't have the power to be a regular corner OF on a contender. The only reason he is even talked about at all is because he's in New York. Considering this is predominantly a Red Sox site & this is a thread about JD Drew, I don't know why Melky's even mentioned here at all. Typical Yankee BS...
  4. He ran the system well. His problem was game preperation and management. Now it's time to play the rumor game to figure out who the next Eagles' coach will be.
  5. No. The Sox made the right move keeping him off the 40 man.
  6. He's a great fit for the Pirates who are in need of a LH-bat. His position flexibility is a huge plus & his salary is $2.8m (after Toronto's contributions). What would it take with Hinske to net Salomon Torres or Mike Gonzalez (both relievers that the Sox have supposedly asked about)?
  7. It's not a big deal be he has no place saying anything about the teams' personnel decisions. He's coming off his rookie year. He has no place discussing anyone else on the teams' future other than his own. Once he reaches Schilling-like veteran status, then he can open up his mouth about team business but at this point in his career he's only going to get himself in trouble (or told to not talk to the media). His standing at this point in time designates how much he can open his mouth and right now he shouldn't discuss it further. Saying he'd love to see Manny stay is fine but when he starts digging into the potential JD Drew signing & trade rumors, he is in way too deep than his (low) level of paying dues entitles.
  8. This is 100% fake. When a link to a source is provided, then at least speculation can be made. This is a link to the YES Network boards. Look on ESPN.com for anything from Olney... this is garbage from an idiot Yankee fan.
  9. I much rather have Wolf than Meche as a second tier option. Meche is a project at this point. He needs serious help from a good pitching coach. Wolf's stuff has returned from Tommy John surgery and he's a much better value than the Lillys of this free agent class. A healthy Wolf is an above average #3 starter (and if he regains his 2002-2003 form he has #2 stuff). He brings far more upside out of the starting pitchers who are in line for smaller contracts. Wolf at something around 3/12 to 3/15 will make whoever signs him potentially look like a genius.
  10. Wood probably could have done much better financially leaving the Cubs.
  11. For curiosity's sake, does anyone happen to have Tadahito Iguchi's stats from while in Japan? I think he's a better choice to compare numbers to than Matsui (which most articles I've seen try to show the power dropoff from Japan to the US). Iguchi's managed near 20 HR power as a 2B & a smaller player in general (5'9" 185).
  12. Belliard is a FA. Loretta is a LaRussa type of player but he's on the decline defensively. Belliard is younger, has a bit more power, & is superior defensively. The Cards also already have Aaron Miles on their roster for near league minimum. Odds are they wouldn't be looking in Loretta's direction.
