Ironically, the appearance that the FO has essentially given up on reaching the post season by trading Wells may work overall into our favor -- with no more of the intense pressure on the players, they may actually start playing better. Last night's game was one of the most enjoyable all season long, maybe THE most enjoyable, because we weren't expected to win. Nor will anyone expect us to win the rest of the season. Which translates to relaxed players and may translate to more wins.:thumbsup: If nothing else, we can have a lot of fun as spoilers:lol:

If we finish the season 2-4 games behind the Yankees, then EVERYONE will be questioning this trade. Boomer was, at the time he was traded, our best starter, and we may have just turned several future victories into losses. But if our precipitious decline following Varitek's injury proved anything, it's that we desperately need good catchers. So Epstein et al. were in a difficult position. Only once the season is finished will anyone have a reasonable opinion on whether this was a good move.
