Here's the deal, the Yankees have the offense. They have the pen. They can resign their guys as well at either the same or lower cost. Their only flaw is in the rotation. They have an ace. They have a pretty solid #3 in Hughes. Their only major need is a #2 and Lee fits that immediately. When have the Yankees lost their guy in free agency when he fills a massive need? Now, they have made decisions when 2 guys come available, but for now, Lee is the marquee pitcher on the market and he costs a draft pick and cash. There is no way in hell the sox outbid NY.
