  1. Uh what? Cano's OPS is down from 09 and '10 and his BA would be the second worst of his 7 yr career Tex is 40 points off his career OPS, 30 points down in BA, and is 30 points off his career SLG. Gardner's OPS is carried by his 3HRs in a short period of time. Otherwise, his BA and OBP was 30 points and 50 points off from last yr. The above 3 are underperforming, they arent totally sucking Swisher is totally sucking. His OPS is nearly 200 points lower than his career line Posada is totally sucking, he's nearly 200 points off as well, although I dont think he will recover ARod is 36, but came out like wildfire before hurting his oblique. I do think the swing changes he made to counter that injury have led him here. Regardless, he isnt a .781OPS player. I think anyone can agree with that. Martin is hitting .125 this month. Jeter's OPS is down nearly 90 points from last yr's career low. Regardless, this offense is BAD right now, but they should see a significant boost once they start performing to career norms. That being said, they havent shown much life to this point, especially when down, and they arent piling on while up, which is leading to all the blown leads. We're in trouble
  2. Who cares. The offer on the table apparently was Joba and Nova, and I would have taken that in a heartbeat. Regardless, Cashman is in his final yr under contract meaning he either packs it in this yr and lets the kids play it out, or he goes for broke and decimates our system. It's just very, very disappointing that a team with such high profile players could all slump at the same time. Cano, Tex, Jeter, ARod, Swisher, Posada, Gardner, Martin, and even Andruw Jones are sucking compared to career standards. No midseason deal will fix that. Either they play better, or they go down Regardless, I know Cashman is in a "fight for your job" predicament, but I hope he stands firm and goes with a few cheap plugins (cheap in terms of prospect cost) to fill holes and lets the depth in the minors get a shot. With the way teams are locking up players early, the big time FA's arent hitting the market and the big time signing are going to be down. We wont see another CC hit the market for awhile. So, you gotta develop them, and we cannot do that if we demolish every prospect coming up. If we struggle for the rest of the season, we should look into a rebuild. If we come out and start playing like champs again, then maybe you give it one last push for a title with a big time acquisition. I have said it since 2004, this team needs a true rebuild. They got theirs in the form of 3 high profile signing in 2009 which won them a championship, but in order to get dynastic again, they need to start moving kids into spots and seeing how they perform. Build around CC, Grandy, and Cano, hope that Tex can get back to his .900OPS 35HR 120RBI norms and see what happens
  3. Anyone on the market will have to get past the Yanks first. Remember that, the sox arent the only team looking for back end help. And the Yankees farm system is loaded for bear. I sincerely hope we dont move on a lot of these has beens, but I know we will.
  4. Posada eats Elston Howard's and Thurman Munson's lunch offensively. Look at the stats... Posada .273/.376/.476 for an .852OPS. 267HR 1036RBI Howard .274/.322/.427 for a .749OPS. 167HR 762RBI Munson .292/.346/.410 for a .756OPS. 113HR 701RBI Offensively, Posada had a higher OPS than any Yankee catcher sans Bill Dickey. After looking at the numbers, actually, I think Posada is going to get in. Compare his slash line to catching HOFers... Gary Carter .262/.335/.439 Carlton Fisk .269/.341/.457 Johnny Bench .267/.345/.476 Roger Bresnahan .279/.386/.377 Roy Campanella .276/.362/.500 Gabby Hartnett .297/.370/.489 Of the catchers in the HOF, only Campanella, Dickey, Cochrane, and Hartnett have higher OPS'. And the margin is insignificant for all but Cochrane (.045). Campanella (.010), Dickey (.016), and Hartnett (.007). Obviously, that changes a bit with Piazza coming due soon. His OPS (.922) is a career high and significantly better than Posada's, but he doesnt have any rings, while Posada has 5 (4 of which he was a contributor to). To be honest with you, Posada never really jumped out to me as a big time HOF candidate, but looking by the position, he was one of the best ever. I actually take the borderline off his name now. I think he does get into the HOF. I dont think he gets in first time through, but I do think he eventually gets into the Hall
  5. Lackey on the DL with right elbow sprain
  6. Worst Yankee team since 1993
  7. The HR to Fuld should have gotten someone up. The single to Joyce should have gotten him out of the game. This is an absolutely must win, and Girardi is f***ing it up again
  8. DiceK is right around 10 pitches per out right now
  9. Price has been chased, nice
  10. Burnett has looked very solid. Aside from a line drive HR from Damon, he's been very good. Through 5 now. The 6:40 start threw me off a bit.
  11. Grandy man jacks #14 off Price. 97mph lefty on lefty pull homer. He's been amazing
  12. It wont matter. Until we inject some life into this team, Butterbean can shut us down. Over the past few yrs, we seem to have a signature offensive performance against a good pitcher that gets up back on track. We'll see if that happens, otherwise, if we continue down this past, we'll be under .500 in no time. I do laud Long for his offensive work, but whatever he did with ARod after his oblique injury isnt working. Maybe they tried to make his swing a little less injury generating, but they took away his leg kick and he's lost all of his timing and power. Go back to what worked in April, and if he's hurt, then he isnt helping the team. I also dont like the regression in patience seen in Cano. He's gone back to the free swinger of 08 who doesnt wait for his pitch. Every offensive player sans Granderson is in a slump.
  13. We need a spark. Fire Girardi. Cmon, do it
  14. Soriano out again today with elbow stiffness. They say it isnt the same as what he had before, that it is likely due to not pitching for 5 days. I am skeptical as hell, this guy was a walking injury prior to last season. With our luck, he'll need TJS
  15. The Yanks could use some shaking up. Maybe they can shitcan Girardi?
  16. Are they just keeping him there for some defensive work? Cause he isnt getting anything out of it right now
  17. This has been an abortion of a game. They come out of the gate looking like they have some life, then some sloppy defense and a bad umpire call all of a sudden has us down and we've shown no life since. This team has no fight. 2 yrs ago, they were the cardiac kids, never giving up, always coming back. Now, it's almost like they dont show any life until the 8th or 9th but cannot get any big hits. It is really frustrating. It's kinda funny. 2 weeks ago, this team looked invigorated and ready for a long season. Then they suddenly looked old. I am hoping this is just a funk, but I am also concerned y228. This is incredibly, incredibly uninspiring ball
  18. http://www.thebaseballpage.com/baseballpage/top/50-catchers Not bad rankings. Posada ranks ahead of HOFer Elston Howard and right behind Bill Dickey. Having 5 rings (4 of which he actually participated in) also helps. I think he ends up being a borderline guy who might get in, but it wont be on the first ballot
  19. This game sucked. Time for work
  20. So much for that nap. Yanks got jobbed on Variteks AB. Good to see Girardi get run. These Yankees, unlike the Bronx zoo days, really haven't had a lot of internal strife. But with a guy as noticeable as Posada throwing a hussy fit, the years of peace may be at an end. Very pessimistic about this team right now. CC was good through 6 and if Winters actually calls a true K zone, then he gets through 7 with only 2ER. But our offense cannot hit good pitching, which will be a problem going forward
  21. Time for a slight nap. Take care y'all
  22. 96 pitches through 5. We will see your pen, the problem is, our heart of the order isnt hitting
  23. Tex is starting to expand the zone. He is so lost right now
  24. joke of a swing there Grandy. That was ball 4
  25. DO NOT SEND THE RUNNERS HERE. DO NOT DO IT
