  1. Ellsbury, Barnes and Owens is a steep, steep price to pay
  2. The draft order will be interesting. BTW, I am basing money on last yrs slot values which will likely rise a little this yr. The sox will have picks as follows #7, #48, #86, #116, #146, #176, #206, #236, #266, #296. That leaves them with 10 picks and a slot amount of $6.14 million. The Yankees will have picks as follows (assuming Soriano signs elsewhere) #27, #34, #35, #69, #106, #136, #166, #196, #226, #256, #286, #316. That leaves them with 12 picks in the first 10 rounds and a slot amount of $7.15 million
  3. http://www.mymlbdraft.com/MLB-Mock-Draft They have the sox going with SD State 3b Kris Bryant, a massive kid with big time now power and good hands. Probably profiles more as a 1b due to his size, but his bat is big time. Let's see how this stacks up come June after this kid finishes out his season in SD. They have the Yankees going with a HS OFer from MN named Ryan Boldt, a lefty with a sweet swing, but I know nothing else about him
  4. The biggest reason why I'm a believer in the Yankees is that their pitching staff should be pretty dominant. If they all age at once, then we're f***ed
  5. Easy way to rectify this. Keep the original agreement, but if he's under 500PAs in yr 1, the sox get a chance to opt out of the final two yrs
  6. Jeter is also 6'3" 185lbs and is built like a horse.
  7. Bat speed will start dropping and you'll see some wear and tear on that tiny body coming around 33yrs old. You can keep this as a sig bet or whatever, but I see him being his usual .300/.380/.450 line from 2013-2015, a .285/.350/.400 line from 2016-2018 and then an exit from baseball/utility role after that.
  8. I haven't made an actual prediction on the sox missing the playoffs or not being in contention since I started posting on message boards. I thought they'd be fighting for the 2nd WC spot last yr, but they obviously missed that mark by a lot. I just dont think they have the star power on either side of the ball and they arent complete in the starting rotation. They also lack the thunder in the lineup of prior yrs. They'll go 78-84 and finish in last place in the division. Them slipping, the Yankees effectively refusing to get better and watching the other three teams gain experience and get better will make this division a f***ing buzzsaw. I still see the Yankees winning the division, but the way things are going for them, I think 2013 is the true last yr of the Yankee "dynasty". 2008 didnt fit since they had a ton of injuries and subsequently won a title the yr after. I honestly see 2014 being a rebuild yr of sorts and both the Yankees and the Sox might be on the downturn for the following 3 yrs or so, with the sox uptrending before the Yankees. It's kinda depressing knowing that this is really the last stand for the Yanks, and if they come out like s***, then they'll go into a hole they wont recover from for years
  9. He is a special player who gets every ounce out of what a mediocre to minus body will give him. Once that body starts to betray him, he will see a decline in his production. I think he has 3 more All Star caliber seasons and then he'll see a dropoff that will still see him as an above average player for another 2-3 yrs.
  10. You are best served by giving all your kids one more yr to see what they can become in the minors. I have a feeling that after August 1, you're going to see Barnes and Bradley in the big leagues with Bogaerts in AAA waiting in the wings.
  11. Victorino- replaces Crawford Gomes- replaces Ross Dempster- Replaces Beckett Drew- replaces Aviles Uehara- replaces Melancon Hanrahan- supplants Bailey Ross- replaces Shoppach The only big plus above is Uehara vs Melancon and if you look at health, Victorino vs Crawford. Without Napoli, they dont replace Gonzalez. Regardless, without another big acquisition, this team will struggle to win 80 games in the AL East.
  12. I'd love it if they did that. Maybe an ARod deal would do
  13. He isn't leaving Boston, he's their retort to Jeter. That being said, I see him as your typical little guy, deteriorating a little earlier than most. He probably puts up his final all star caliber year at the age of 32 or so.
  14. My hope is that his title game performance drops him to the Giants. They haven't had a full season of defensive dominance since Pierce left, and Te'o can fill that gap talent wise and leadership wise
  15. One year for Napoli. I bet he's pretty peeved about this.
  16. Exactly. And take a look at who they beat. #7, #15, #24 in the final standings. They lost to #1
  17. Vazquez is a guy you can scout all you want in the Dominican and in PR. Put him on the big stage in the Fens and throw him against a good team and he'll be on his knees faster than a 2 dollar whore
  18. Now they're just pissing on us. This is going to be a 60+ point performance. ND has just given up
  19. They've now blown 3 and they nearly didnt allow the replay. What a joke.
  20. Our D cannot tackle, the Bama O is one step ahead and the refs have blown two calls
  21. As good as they are this yr, they'll be better next yr talent wise
  22. And I have been a fan of the Irish since I was a boy, no titles since 1988 and still rooting hard every yr
  23. UConn Basketball, who gives a f*** about golf and the NY Giants
