  1. Can't put away hitters. Getting ahead early, but not closing hitters out like he should
  2. He used to be dominant. He's not dominant anymore. That contract will be a bear if he doesn't find it again
  3. Headley with the sacks packed. DP likely
  4. Mr Glass broke yesterday
  5. As big of a Yankee homer as I am, those two pitches weren't even close. Wow
  6. I wish I could disagree, but I can't. We get an ace performance and can't put up one f***ing run against a guy who started the yr in the minors
  7. 10 innings, no runs. Joke
  8. The Marlins were genius in this move. Barring an unforeseen consequence, he is opting out. And because of this, they get him for 6yrs and $107 mil. On the open market, he is worth $30 mil a season right now. After 2020, he will be worth more provided good health. If he isn't, he stays put. If he continues to abuse pitching and hit 35+ HR a year with a high OBP, then he should be worth more than $218 mil over 7 yrs.
  9. Xander has been good. He could be great. His WAR lead is more a factor of how bad the SS's have been than how good he has been. If his power comes, he will be otherworldly
  10. We get 5 shutout innings and are still tied. f*** this team's offense
  11. You might Bell, but a lot of the news guys on this site might not. It was 12 years ago. Most people really start to follow baseball around the ages 8-10. So fans who are currently 20-22 have no idea.
  12. Best... The deal away of the century with Beckett/AdGon/Crawford/Punto allowed their team to reset. The Slocum deal literally gave you a good pitcher and your second best C of all time, for a s***** reliever The Schilling deal turned into gold. The Pedro deal was ridiculous too
  13. That team is so damn deep. Who has Soler and Baez in waiting should injury strike? I know Soler isn't killing the ball, but he is legit and should be alright by year's end. Theo built them into a juggernaut
  14. If the O's figure out Gausman, they have an ace. This kid has insane stuff. They moved him around the rubber and it looks like he has found his command. Scary
  15. He's always had the ten cent head and the million dollar arm. The thing is, his stuff looks pretty pedestrian now. He used to have that mid 90s heat and a knee buckling curve. Now he's more a 2 seamer, cutter kind of guy. He's not as intimidating as he used to be
  16. He's on our AAA club, just in case Headley gets off the schneid
  17. http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/redsox/2016/05/04/red-sox-usually-avoid-insuring-major-contracts/c1T8NLpMtxF83vsRbMvRCM/story.html Here's a recent story. Apparently Henry had a hard time collecting on Alex Fernandez in Miami and it left a bad taste in his mouth
  18. Henry told a reporter a few years back that he never has and never will insure a contract. Whereas NY insures all their big contracts
  19. This is a doozie. Ruth to the Yankees Jamie Moyer for Darren Bragg Dave Henderson for a pile of s*** Tris Speaker dealt to Cleveland Freddy Sanchez and Mike Gonzalez for Suppan and Lyon Schilling and Brady Anderson for Mike Boddicker Lyle for Cater Bagwell for Anderson Lonborg and Scott for a pile of s***
  20. The thing about Owens that is so puzzling is that he had reports when he was in the low minors of throwing mid 90s. By the time he heads north and makes his debut last yr, he was barely touching 90. This year, he is barely hitting 88. Is he slowing it down intentionally to gain command? If so, it isn't really working. His command is awful both in and out of the zone. He is not a big league starter on a good team. He is at best a AAAA guy
  21. Refsnyder is hitting .359 in his last 10 games. The kid has a big league bat. The glove remains the question. But handling the hot corner is definitely easier from a positioning standpoint than the key stone. And I know Rob has the arm
  22. Two things on the insurance. Contract insurance is for an entire season, so the fact that Pablo made the roster and had a few ABs is enough to void the insurance payout. Also, I think the sox are one of a handful of teams that do not insure their contracts for injury.
