  1. When is Chris Sale gonna go on the DL?
  2. We’ve been kept afloat by timely hitting and great pitching. The timely hitting usually waxes and wanes, but the pitching has been strong and that should continue. Also, we’ve got the easiest April in baseball, so that help. If we get healthy, we will be damn hard to beat, but we aren’t getting fully healthy til July. For the Sox, Cora was very evasive about JDM. If he misses time due to this back issue then your lineup is screwed. Mookie may be the MVP, but JDM is the straw that stirs your lineup
  3. He’s up 2.3mph from last year
  4. When JD is not in the lineup, the flow is choppy and the execution is terrible
  5. Alvarado cannot find the zone repeatedly. If I was Bradley and I knew I couldn't hit this guy, I would go into protect mode and try to walk
  6. Not arguably. He admitted that he hurt his shoulder compensating for his foot injury which didn’t heal quickly.
  7. Happ with 7 scoreless. He’s really turned things around.
  8. Boom! Gary goes granny!
  9. What a job by Luke Voit. The guy has become the de facto leader in the clubhouse and is really growing into that role in the lineup. He’s hitting the s*** out of the ball. 8HR 22RBI in 26 games this season while coming through in clutch situations over and over again. Look at the lineup put up by Boone against one of the best pitchers in baseball. 1. Lemahieu 2. Voit 3. Torres Okay, 1-3, good major league hitters no issue 4. Urshela 5. Maybin 6. Romine What the f***? Romine is the only one who belongs on the big league roster, yet he’s a backup 7. Tauchman 8. Estrada 9. Paxton We rest Gardner and go with the lefty Tauchman? Estrada is a good prospect, so no disrespect there, but what a weak ass lineup. And they get 11 hits and 5ER off MadBum, tying a career worst for him in the process. I’m amazed with every win that this team can keep floating. Heck, we’re not floating, we’re rising with a team of guys who had been considering their next careers outside the game. As much as I can’t stand Boone’s in game decisions, we all must give him real credit for keeping this ramshackle team together and winning. Heck, if it wasn’t for our “vaunted” pitching falling apart with a 4-0 lead two nights ago, we’d be 5-0 on a west coast road trip.
  10. He went from a consecutive 18 game winner and ace of our staff to done due to a single baserunning play. He rushed to come back from his injury and hurt his arm and was never the same
  11. Trout has been incredibly special yet he’s got 90+ WAR to get to Mays. Mays has 6 10+ WAR seasons. Mays has a 6.3 WAR season as a 40 year old.
  12. He’s a body. He’s essentially a poor man’s JBJ. Good defense, good speed, no bat. If we are going to have a stiff on the squad it might as well be someone who can play defense
  13. As soon as he wrote that, Bird tore his foot
  14. I absolutely and more cathartic when things are going wrong. I also am superstitious and believe pointing to something good is a great way to make it worse unless I’m entirely confident in its progress continuing
  15. The average catching OPS is in the low .600s IIRC, so for his position, he’s dominant. But in sheer offensive perspective, that’s not good
  16. Can’t imagine we gave up anything of value, but he’s a good defender who offers speed and little else. He will function as our 4th OFer/depth for Gardner should the older position player on our roster join the pups on the DL
  17. We always seem to have guys who fill in year after year who give an initial boost then regress to their mean. We are getting beyond the initial burst phase. We need to start getting guys back. We have a very weird, backloaded schedule this year and the rest of the AL is mediocre at best beyond Houston. If healthy, we’d be far better off. Sanchez returning was more symbolic than anything last night. CC and Sanchez are back. Tulo looks to be next in line followed by Stanton, Andujar, Hicks, and Frazier. If all goes well, we see Betances and Judge in June and Sevy and Didi in July. We need to keep surging with the AAA squad and avoid another major injury
  18. It may, but with limited financial resources below the cap, you’re gonna have trouble finding them outside the organization beyond finding detritus guys and hoping they find it. I have a feeling you’ll see Hernandez out there later in the year as I bet they shut him down once he nears his innings and he’ll be a short stint guy in Boston. I’m not sold on Lakins as of yet
  19. You’ve got to go 86-51 to win 96. It’s possible, but I’ve seen nothing to suggest that. Also, with Eo on the shelf and everyone aside from ERod showing a lack of depth in their starts, that soft underbelly of your pen is gonna cost you.
  20. These Yankees are gritty. Down 5-0, they didn’t quit. Loaisiga was awesome in relief. We chipped and chipped until we took the lead and then Chap closed the door
  21. So we got Sanchez back, yet we lost Frazier to the IL with an ankle injury. Stanton is healed from his bicep issue, but had a cortisone shot in his shoulder. He will start swinging again in Arizona and should hopefully go on a rehab assignment next week. Frazier is expected to miss 10-14 days Andujar is making real progress and is expected now to avoid surgery. He is going to play in Extended ST next week and possibly go on a rehab assignment from there. Tulo and Hicks are also nearing a rehab assignment. Didi is throwing from the SS position although they didn’t specify the intensity. He is still “on target” yet nobody has determine what his target is. I’ve heard anywhere from June to August
  22. ERod May be your best pitcher right now. His command of the high pitch is going to be a very important determinant into whether he can take that next step. He’s always been a power guy with good left to right movement, but with him setting the eye level with above the zone heat then dropping changes out of the zone, he’s damn near unhittable.
  23. No real point in the QO for a middling guy like Porcello. If you could get a 1a supp pick, then it’s worth the risk, but a 4th round supp isn’t worth it unless the players is 100% guaranteed to decline it
  24. Most teams don’t go 9-15 then go 9-1 the next ten. Those that do were pretty unlucky to get to 9-15. The Sox aren’t. This isn’t bad luck, this is abysmal baseball. The Reds have been unlucky being 4 games under .500 with a +5 run diff. The Sox are 9-15 with a -43 run differential. If anything, they’re lucky to have won 9 games. They’ve averaged losing every game played by 2 runs! A victory for you at this point would be a 10 game run where you’re 6-4. Then another, then another, then maybe a 7-3 or 8-2.
  25. Whit Merrifield has quietly been one of the best second basemen in baseball over the past few seasons, so everyone could use him. Add in the fact that Chavis is a 1b in 2b clothing, and you could really use him. Now why would the Royals want to deal him? He just signed a ridiculously team friendly deal and is the face of the team. If you want to get him, you’ll need to give up more than Devers, who at this point looks like a 1b and hasn’t proven he can hit major league pitching on a regular basis. Also, those bandying Kennedy’s name around haven’t looked at his April as a first time full time reliever. He’s been absolutely dominant in short outings and may end up bringing back something strong if the Royals eat money.
