  1. You are honestly delusional
  2. I would be fine with a coach calling the game and two earpieces, the problem is, the coach would need to be out of camera and microphone range yet be able to see if the pitcher shakes him off Otherwise, a catcher calling the game would need a microphone and the batter would be able to hear the call. Heck, the broadcast would hear the call and the problem compounds
  3. That was pretty funny. I wonder if the guy might be having some sort of psychiatric ailment
  4. Doing a sequence of 5 signs adds about 2-3 seconds instead of a single sign. Figure there are 150 pitches in a game without a runner on second base (assuming, no data). That's about 450 seconds or another 7.5 minutes added just to account for the "sign stealing".
  5. Lol, you said the same thing last year. Yankees will win at or over 100 games. We will decimate the sox this season with them finishing in a distant third. They'll be closer to Toronto than they will be to NY just like they were in 2019. This is the year
  6. Devers couldn’t field in his debut season either. He worked at it and got better. Miggy is working on his defense, whether he’s improved or not is TBD. He has a cannon and is fleet enough of foot to be a good OFer. Can he track and take good angles? No idea. He isn’t a Schwarber, slow and unathletic. The problem for Miggy is that he’s on a win now team with a guy who played good D while also providing great offensive production at his position last year while he missed the season due to injury.
  7. And if they could stay on the field, you wouldn’t be looking to deal them
  8. The sox aren't dealing Betts to the Astros for those two. Houston would say no because they love Springer and are inclined to try and extend him. Everyone knows Betts isn't interested in re-signing. Also, the Astros need Urquidy with Cole and Miley gone
  9. Correct. They want this to be under the rug from the media perspective, but highlight the example being made as a deterrent. It is hard to do in this day and age
  10. The Astros' excuse was that their replay room was far away from the dugout, so they couldn't cheat as easily as the other teams can. Hence, they needed a more elaborate plan like the desk, cpu and barrel banging. In the end, nobody is asterisking anything, that was just playful banter. But Manfred is understandably not happy about this, especially with the MLB entering the gambling fray. While draft picks aren't being reported for the Astros, I would be absolutely shocked if none were taken from them. You want a deterrent, take away a first rounder. It is largely symbolic because the Astros were the best or second best team in baseball last year, so losing the 29th or 30th pick in the draft isn't terribly painful, but it would set a precedent for all teams to avoid this level of cheating.
  11. If we are asterisking every team that had a PED cheater on the squad, make sure to asterisk every team from the mid 70s on. PEDs are individual. This cheating scandal is organizational. 2004, 2007, 2013, 2018*
  12. If he is tendered, I think there is some penalty, but it is small. Something like 10% of the salary
  13. Well, the leader in BA with runners on 2nd and 3rd was the Astros in 2018. Shocker. The Braves and Twins had better BA's (by 1 and 2 points) with runners on 2nd alone, but the sox out OPS'd them by 10+ points
  14. Listen, it is entirely legal for the runner on second to figure this out on his own and convey it to batters by a lean or hand gesture. That has been part of the game for a century. But getting the sign sequence spoon fed to you at second by digital means is expressly prohibited. The sox didn't do it as blatantly as the Astros did. It is pretty easy to hear the bangs on the garbage can prior to breaking balls on replay. This is damning evidence especially when you consider the players admitting it. Now, the evidence won't be as easily picked through. This will rely on testimony and confession, although Cora's involvement in Houston will be taken into consideration and the fact that the sox were warned in 2017 will be considered as well. The punishment for the sox should actually be worse than what the Astros get.
  15. It is also far sneakier, since there isn't a audio cue. They did it with RISP and figured out the sign sequence, which was conveyed to the batter by the runner on second who got a hand signal from the dugout. The sox led the league in RISP in 2018. With a runner on second, or second and third, the sox hit .280 and .339 respectively, 3rd and 2nd best in baseball.
  16. PEDs were pretty rampant and weren't expressly illegal 96-00. The Sox were warned prior to 2018 and did it anyway
  17. There's an * now for 2017 and 2018
  18. SO let me get this straight. The sox cheated during the season, but not during the postseason? Really? Why would you cheat when it matters least and then pack up the operation when it matters most? 2018 was a cakewalk for Boston. They had a .703 win percentage at home, 6 games better than their away record. They wont the division going away. Why would you pack it up when it matters most? Makes a LOT of sense now. The more I read into this, the more I wonder if Cora gets the biggest penalty of all. Two teams, two world series titles and a single coach tying them together with a similar cheating strategy. With baseball viewership on the decline, having fans thinking the teams are cheating to win doesn't help. 2 straight WS titles won with cheating is really bad PR for the league. And with the sox already being warned the year prior, the league is going to come down hard on them. Cora might get suspended for half or more of the season, which would probably prompt Henry to ax him. The sox will likely be looking at draft pick forfeitures as well and DD will likely have a show cause penalty to ever work again
  19. n 2017, the Yanks and Sox were fined for using electronic media. They were warned against further uses. I don't see the Yanks being implicated beyond 2017.
  20. Don't forget to add that the trades and the cheating helped
  21. The source is a player on the 2018 team, so my bet is he did it. Especially since the sources for the Astros were players on the team too. The other confounding issue for the Red Sox is they were fined and warned in 2017 about using electronic devices in the dugout. As a repeat offender, the punishment could be pretty extreme.
  22. Astros punishment is going to be handed down within a week per rotoworld. Then they’ll have to shift to the Sox for penalties. Bringing it to a second team that won a World Series will likely be punished even worse, IMO. The speculation is a huge fine, GM and coach suspensions for Houston. No word on draft pick or IFA funds being taken away
  23. I have a feeling he is going to face a lengthy suspension
  24. According to The Athletic, multiple memebers of the 2018 Red Sox have told MLB that they used the replay room to steal signs that season. Surely, replay rooms have been used for cheating since the moment they were created, which is something MLB tried to crack down on prior to the 2018 season by adding monitors. The Red Sox reportedly used zoomed-in video in the replay room to learn catcher's signals, which could then be relayed to batters when runners were on second base. They almost certainly weren't the only ones doing that through the years. Still, it's especially disturbing that it's another Alex Cora team getting busted, given that Cora was also with the 2017 Astros when they were cheating. This is per rotoworld. Cora decided to take what he learned and apply it to the Sox. Wow, didn’t expect this
  25. I disagree. They picked a great time for a re-set. Let the Yanks window come and go and by the time the team is rebuilt, the Yanks should be coming down. I honestly don’t think the Sox can just reset and be fine. They need to be rebuilt
