  1. I like.
  2. the reason why they call him tank is, well, because he has a tank in his garage as well as a small colombian militia.
  3. I agree, there were reasons for it. But lets not make excuses and sit back and think about this guy. The guy bounces his wife off his fists a few times, is pretty awful in Houston, comes to TB and reincarnates himself into a fine ballplayer for 1.5 seasons. He moves to LA where he sucked, then comes to Boston. At this point, is he the player the dodgers had? Probably not. Is the the player he was in TB? Probably not. Is he as bad as he was in Houston? Probably not. I'd assume he is a mix of all 3 and will be a serviceable player. But again, I like the light on power speed guys resetting my order rather than leading it off. Call it a personal preference.
  4. he has good power and my guess is he may be trying to tailor his swing for fenway. Its easier to hit the ball 420 feet to center than it is 380 to dead right.
  5. how about offense from the bottom of the order?
  6. I agree 100% with the bolded part. I am saying the cold was a contributing factor, not the whole shabang. And when you mix it with the beginning of the season and a major temp change from what they were used to in ST, it made a big difference. I wont chalk it up to them just being bad pitchers, because I know this rotation will handle the pressure and pitch well. I think we can bury this one ORS, we are kinda agreeing but saying it in different ways.
  7. Beckett and the fact that a 7 run deficit stared them in the face by the 3rd. Beckett isnt the kind of pitcher you beat by getting behind and hoping to slug your way to a W. Beckett is a power pitcher and as such, you let him get himself in trouble. Chip away, and eventually you get him out of the game early or you slowly get a few runs against him. When you are handed a 7 run deficit against a power pitcher, there is no chance of coming back.
  8. If he tails off in october, it will continue. If he keeps this level of clutchitude going for the entire season, he will be the toast of the town.
  9. 23 innings of sub 1 ERA baseball. What else do you want? It was a waiver claim that passed by 29 other clubs. It isnt like he has barely held his own since being acquired. He has been lights out untouchable. And it isnt like I am calling him an ace. Coming up aces is a term essentially saying that it worked out. And to this point, I dont think there has been a waiver claim since Arroyo in the northeast that had this much impact. And lets put it this way, you'd take him over pretty much anyone in your middle relief corps right now. Be honest.
  10. they are keeping him in A ball to get his confidence up. The hitters at that level are no match for him. Once he gets to AAA, he should at least get tested a little.
  11. Today will be a battle. King Felix is a very good pitcher. Should a fun game. And another thing, give Matsuzaka a month before you proclaim him the next MLB ace. You did the same thing with Beckett last yr and he got raked by the end of April.
  12. whoa, way too little. Hansen has very little trade value right now. At least Lidge is a f***ed in the head reliever who had MLB success in the past.
  13. Do you have Dice-K drill Guillen tomorrow?
  14. Yankees win 10-1. My thoughts... Andy Pettitte was brilliant. Locating with the heat away most of the day, but not afraid to locate inside when needed. His cutter was used sparingly but sharp and his curveball was magnificent, unlike his first start. And just like the old yankees, Pettitte knew what to do with a big lead. As I said in the sox gameday, some pitchers dont know how to pitch to contact when the score isnt in doubt and run their pitch counts up only to burn the pen on a day when it isnt needed. Pettitte wasnt one of those pitchers. He went 6, obviously started to labor at the end of the 6th, but this is what you get from a pitcher who missed 2.5 weeks of ST. 6 strong innings, saved the pen again. The offense. Hmm, wow, the offense. Bonser was not pitching poorly, as a matter of fact he had a stretch of something like 9 retired in a row and was absolutely dealing. But 2 pitches did him in. One, the homer by ARod which was a curve that hit its spot, ARod just smashed it. The other, he left the heat up and in on Damon, right where he likes it. Hits all over the place tonight, another successful game for the offense. Then pen was serviceable. 3IP 1ER, the 1 run scoring on Proctor who momentarily lost the zone. The defense was pretty good as well. Overall, very solid game in every aspect and another W. Thus far, we have taken Minny out of the game early 2 games in a row, and with journeyman Ramon Ortiz facing our best pitcher (ERA wise) from last yr, we might be looking at a sweep.
  15. KT with a 2 run double? f***in A, everyone is mashing.
  16. offense continues to mash. 8-1 with ARod up.
