  1. more injuries. Fanf***ingtastic
  2. and he's not a kid. He's 29.
  3. Adam, a little Immodium should help with the verbal diarrhea. And this is already being discussed in the release Tavarez thread.
  4. aside from the fact that he will be high on coke at least twice this season and may only see 250AB's. But continue living the acid flashback kid, dont let me steal your mojo. http://www.johncoulthart.com/images/amtuk.jpg
  5. it happens. Ortiz was throwing strikes and we were swinging. I was very perplexed with our approach though. Ortiz is known to be wild yet we let him pitch into the 8th. I dont see how that happened. BTW, Dan Haren OWNS us. I have a bad feeling about this game.
  6. take note of my edit. Joe decided to switch Rasner to tomorrow and move Pavano back so he will be in line to start vs the sox. Lovely.
  7. I'll give it a whirl. Havent pitched in a few yrs, but I used to throw hard. Unfortunately every time I throw anything these days I hear a crunch in my shoulder. That can't be good. I could probably give a few more innings than the Moose though. High heat with no idea where it is going all day long!!!
  8. Crunch, I think our payroll is in the order of 185 mil right now. And it is april and 2 of our SPs are out (as well as our 6th starter). And Pettitte got assaulted? What? His ERA is below 2.
  9. btw, constructions gigs are no joke. Had a summer job working for a construction company working on my HS and it was awful. 6am to 6pm 6 days a week. Most of em talking about being out all night then coming to work hungover as f*** (I was 18 then, so no drinky). Only the toughest can do that for a living.
  10. My response was something that can be applied to nearly any pitcher. So I agree with your sentiment. We really dont know and going off a game vs KC where he was masterful and a game vs Seattle where he was decidedly average doesnt give you much. I'll tell you this, he has an arsenal to him. And it is early, but my comment was mostly associated with the fact that he missed with a good amount of his breaking balls in the seattle game (likely due to the cold btw). But he is a damn good pitcher and I'd take him on my team over anyone in our rotation not named Wang or Pettitte.
  11. cause of the bloop single.
  12. Gom, how is Hughes fastball not a plus pitch? He sits 92-95 with him being clocked as high as 97. His curve ball is being billed by non-YES guys as the best in the minors. And both pitches he can locate on a dime (when he is going right). He doesnt have the awe-factor, I will give you that. Felix lights up scoreboards and has 2 breaking balls that are out of his world. Homer hits 100 regularly in games. But look at the whole shabang instead of one thing. Huge arsenal? Got it. Plus plus curve and fastball (both 4 seam and 2 seam). Plus slider (to say his slider is average is very poor IMO) and an average change. Makeup? Have you ever heard the kid talk? The kid almost has Manny's awareness for expectations and pressure. Pressure? What pressure? He's a laid back Cali kid who doesnt have the makeup that makes you worry about the NY hype machine. Contol? Look at his WHIP and his BB/9 over his MiLB career and you can answer that for yourself. And stats? The kid has a lower career MiLB WHIP than Mariano's best season WHIP. That is filthy. No doubt, this kid has a ceiling of being one of the best pitchers in the league (I liken him to a Mark Prior when he was healthy). That is all that you can go on at this point. But to say his heat isnt fast is very wrong.
  13. Beckett, Tavarez and Matsuzaka in Fenway Matsuzaka, Wakefield, Schilling in the Bronx
  14. all I know is DiceK in 2 of those games, gimme a sec.
  15. The thing the yankees need to do is exactly what they didnt do against Ramon Ortiz. Take pitches. DiceK has shown that he can get a little wild at times and if you dont chase him, you can scratch a few runs across. And, if he K's 15 in 6 innings, then that means he threw 45 pitches at least in those ABs. If you get him out of the game early, that is just more innings you will have against that terrible middle relief. If we work him well, take pitches, work walks and fight counts, we can grind him out of the game and scratch a few across. This is our task. We arent going to Sidney Ponson his ass and slam him all over the park. It would be nice, but I dont see it. We have to work him.
  16. 13th @OAK Igawa 14th @OAK Rasner 15th @OAK Pettitte 16th OFF 17th CLE Pavano 18th CLE Igawa 19th CLE Rasner 20th @BOS Pettitte 21st @BOS Mussina or Karstens 22nd @BOS Pavano Apparently Jeff Karstens is doing very well in recovering from elbow stiffness and would be the replacement for Mussina in Boston on the 21st if he cannot go. The easiest roster scenario at that point would be Mussina to the DL and Karstens off the DL if Moose cannot make that start. As for the 22nd, if Mussina is able to go against the sox on the 21st, then Karstens would likely get the start unless Wang comes back. If Karstens nor Wang are ready then the yankees would throw Rasner. The big issue comes in if Mussina needs the DL, if Wang cannot go until the last week of april and if Karstens has a setback. That puts Rasner in the April 22nd slot and an open April 21st slot likely filled by Sean Henn. The good news is, that if all goes according to plan, the yankees should have a rotation of Wang, Igawa and Pettitte facing Boston in Yankee stadium.
  17. dude had pimples on his biceps.
  18. it will be. I think he dominates the yankees in his first start. The yankees dont deal well with new pitchers for some reason. But his last start, in Yankee stadium potentially against CMW would be a war. I am loving it right now, if you cannot beat the best, you dont belong.
  19. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070413&content_id=1895735&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb&partnered=rss_mlb there goes 1 FA pitcher from this yrs crop. I liked Westbrook as a potential rotation candidate. If he and big Z are unavailable this offseason, then the pitching pool will be wicked weak.
  20. I am going with some Giambroids MOJO! http://www.thediamondangle.com/archive/aug01/oak/biggiambi.jpg
