  1. we have it right now. Didnt early on. You guys had it early on, dont now.
  2. OOOOUT!!!
  3. they have their chance here.
  4. Do you want to lay all of your eggs in Schilling's basket after he went on the DL with essentially no injury and continually, throughout the yr showed a serious decline in stuff? And when he left for the DL with no injury, he was worse than Tavarez. In a fan's position, faith and prayer are all well and good. In Theo's position, he wont know what Schilling has until it is too late since Schill is scheduled to pitch ON DEADLINE DAY. If he doesnt fortify your rotation, then he is acting like a fan, which is a BAD idea. And if Schilling comes back and flops while the yankees and Clemens surge past you, then Theo will be looking for new employment. Losing out on Clemens was a bad move for the sox. Handing Tavarez of all people, the #5 position to begin the yr was a bad move. And now, with his supposed "ace" falling apart and his new 1-2 punch essentially all he has in the rotation, he MUST do something. I will tell you this. If Theo relies on Schilling to be the only rotation fortification, this team is doomed. You saw what 2 pitchers got you. It took you from one of the best teams in all of baseball last season to 3rd in the division in a month and a half. There are 2 and a half left now. Plenty of time for the rotation to flop. If you go get a bat and pass on the pitching, you will either scrape into the playoffs or miss them entirely, and if you make it you will lose in the 1st round. And that is a farcry from the wrecking ball team we saw running through teams in April and May.
  5. The sox DONT NEED ANOTHER BAT. Their offense isnt amazing like it used to be, but it is more than enough to win. It is the pitching. If Schilling comes back as the shitbag he was before he hit the DL, then the sox rotation is 2 deep going into what could be a dogfight for the division or going into a playoff series. And that wont win. And unfortunately for you guys, Schilling wont be returning until the trading deadline, so Theo MUST prepare as if Schilling will come back s*****. So if you want to overpay, overpay for Buehrle (if available) or another pitcher, because the Gabbard's and Tavarez's of the world will cost you.
  6. I know that. But at the same time, most of those same "scouts" changed their mind when they saw him in fenway. I saw one of the "scouts" say that he looks like a singles hitter with a good eye.
  7. I liked Bowden's potential. At the beginning of the season, I said that I'd keep Bowden over Buchholz if I had to choose. But that was before Buchholz just decided to kill everything in his path in a Hughesian minor league season. I think Buchholz surged so far past Bowden that Bowden now becomes possible trade bait since Buchholz has ascended into untouchable status. I think Lester may be an untouchable as well simply because of his fight with cancer, how endeared RSN is to him, and the fact that his cancer drops his value too low for Theo to even consider including him in packages. If the sox make a big splash, I expect Bowden to be the one that has to change uni's.
  8. For the sox... The next 5 should be pretty easy. 1 at home vs KC soft tossing lefty vs Tavarez with the series on the line? The Royals do have a passable bridge to Dotel (with Gobble and Soria) so the sox are gonna have to hit Perez hard. And with Tavarez struggling, who knows. I can tell you this, though, if Tavarez stinks up the jont against the same team that Gabbard shutout, I think Tito's decision gets easier once Schilling does return. 4 at home vs CWS Granted, the CWS have the pitching capability to be solid, but they cant hit their way out of a paper bag. Also, you guys miss their ace in Buerhle. At home, you should win this series especially since Beckett and DMats will pitch and Tavarez will not. 4 at Cleveland I call this the win-win series. So long as the yankees win, they will enjoy this series regardless of the winner. I just hope it is lopsided, maybe a sweep. Tavarez and your three hottest pitchers (Becks, DMats, and Gabbard) will throw that series, so it should be fun. 3 @ TB they suck, something awful. Wake and Tavarez will headline this series, which will likely be the last turn of the rotation prior to Schilling's return and if I remember correctly, Timmy dominates the Rays. Day off, then... 3 home vs Baltimore 3 @ Seattle 3 @ Anaheim day off 3 @ Baltimore 3 home vs TB day off 4 home vs Anaheim including DH 3 @ TB 3 @ CWS day off 3 @ NYY 3 home vs Baltimore 3 home vs Toronto 4 @ Baltimore 3 home vs TB 3 home vs NYY 3 @ Toronto 3 @ TB 3 home vs Oakland 3 home vs Minn You have 8 of the next 12 are vs sub .500 teams. 7 of the following 13 vs teams with .500+ records Then, 13 straight vs sub .500 teams And you finish with 9 of 15 vs .500+ teams. The sox most comfortable stretch is at the beginning of september. Your most difficult stretch may be last 2 weeks of the season where you play the Yankees, Oakland, and Minnesota. For the Yankees... take a look at this schedule It starts with 14 games in 12 days 2 home vs TOR with Wang and Clemens going in the final two and Halladay out of the way, the yankees have a really good chance of sweeping 4 home vs TB with a DHer The DHer will include DeSalvo and Igawa making that day potentially treacherous. It is home and the Rays pen does suck worse than ours does, but by no means is this your typicaly 4 game set vs the Rays. 4 @ KC 4 @ Baltimore, but this includes the continued game with the yankees up 2 in the 8th then a day off 3 home vs CWS 3 home vs KC 3 @ TOR Yes, that is correct, 23 consecutive games vs sub .500 teams. Then is gets really rough... 3 @ CLE 3 home vs BAL 3 home vs DET 3 @ LAA day off 4 @ DET 3 home vs BOS 16 of 19 games against not just .500+ teams, but all 4 teams currently occupying playoff spots. And 10 of those 16 games are roadies. This will be the litmus test. It is a great opportunity to gain ground on Boston and Cleveland, but could also be a huge crushing of our spirits right after such a beautiful time of nothingness. BUT, we finish the season very nicely 3 home vs TB 3 home vs SEA day off 3 @ KC day off 3 @ TOR 3 @ BOS 3 home vs BAL day off 4 home vs TOR 3 @ TB 3 @ BAL of the final 28 games, 6 are against .500+ teams. Only 13 of those games are home games. BUT, we also have 3 days off mixed in (2 right around the KC series) which could let us set the rotation for the upcoming Boston series. Either way, the sox schedule is much more balanced. The Yankee schedule has 2 easy pockets surrounding a god awful stretch. Should be fun.
  9. ORS, he said Bowden. If it was Buchholz/Ellsbury, I'd agree with you.
  10. do not get the reference. I just read another article saying that Proctor for Betemit has been turned down by LA
  11. Not even close to the package. Hanley had way more tools than Ellsbury and played a tougher position. Sanchez at the time was younger and more accomplished at a higher level. The Hanley/Sanchez package was way more than Ells and Bowden.
  12. The Beginning II is a red sox bar.
  13. http://www.nj.com/sports/ledger/index.ssf?/base/sports-1/118473403494000.xml&coll=1 I have always like Betemit and even though his average isnt there this season, his power and OBP #s are solid for a part time player. I'd LOVE to get him and use him in the utility/1b role. He'd be a nice addition. Now they are saying that the yankees are offering Farnsworth, Bruney, or Proctor for him with the intention of bringing up Chris Britton and Sean Henn into the bullpen. Sounds like a solid plan. I just dont think the dodgers will jump on the Farns bandwagon unless we paid his entire salary, which wouldnt be all that bad of an idea anyway.
  14. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2007/07/18/more_power_to_them/?page=2 I really dont know why, this doesnt make much sense. Sanders cannot play CF and with his injured hammies, is not a sure bet the be able to play the field, period. You have Ortiz at DH, Drew and Manny in the corner slots and Crisp, who is playing better, in CF. Where would you play him and what would you give up to get the 3 month rental of a shell of a player?
  15. I agree. The sox team is already made up of a ton of mercenaries, moreso than the yankees. And the infiltration of mercenaries this season especially has been 33% successful with DMats being the only good one.
  16. BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH YANKEES WILL LOSE 15 OF THE NEXT 10 GAMES, WHHAHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!
  17. f***ing Garko wins it in the 11th. CRAP
  18. guess I had more faith in the sox than you guys did.
  19. f***ing Garko ties up the game in the 9th with a 2 run shot.
