  1. I wont relax. We got jobbed by the umpires again and it cost us a run in a game where runs are a premium. Sox will win tonight because they got help. Tainted win.
  2. ********. f***ing ********. Matsui had a hit there, the game should be tied. The sox continue to get help.
  3. THAT WAS A FAIR BALL!!!
  4. It isnt always velocity that fails when you get tired
  5. this is a joke. Brad Penny just dominated our lineup. Granted, Posada isnt playing, but its close enough.
  6. Penny is leaving a lot of balls over the plate and saying, hit me. And we arent. This team, full of power hitting, fastball loving hitters just cannot catch up to the 95 mph straight heat.
  7. you might see him for 8. Girardi doesnt care about pitch counts with him.
  8. Antonio Bastardo. o/w known as, Tony the Bastard
  9. CC is pitching like the guy we spent 161 million for. He is great tonight. We need to support him.
  10. this team is a big bag of suck right now.
  11. 2 more runners and he gets out of it.
  12. he's helping both sides
  13. CC getting better. Time to SCORE!!
  14. Gom, we do suck against the sox this yr. We beat the sox in the season series last yr and finished out of the playoffs, so I'll take this yr. We'll right the ship.
  15. Mike Lowell looked like a falling manatee on that single by Jeter. I thought that was an easy out off the bat.
  16. cmon now, the draft thread is for discussion, I only want to put the signings in here. I'll be updating
  17. Yep. It is a bit more complicated than that. A lot of times, the teams know how much it would take to sign them right away. A lot of these late signability guys havent proven enough to be first round picks and are demanding so much that they get passed on through the first 10 rounds. So a team like NY or Boston will swoop in and either offer what they want, or watch them until August 17th (this yrs deadline). If they prove that they are worth it, then the sox or yanks will offer it. If the player doesnt show enough but looks pro material, the team will then offer a reduced rate and sometimes the player takes it. Sometimes (as the yankees had with Dwyer a couple yrs back) the player doesnt maintain velocity or gets injured and the team doesnt offer a contract.
  18. Neil Medchill signed with the yankees today. He is a junior LFer out of Oklahoma State. He's a big, left handed bat with major power projection. Baseball America had him rated in the 150 range and expected him to go in the third round. This adds a nice jolt of power to a system that is generally weak outside of Montero, Romine and the AAAA guys.

  20. I'll be here, but I am on call. So if I get any calls, then I'm out.
  21. I like this draft. We got the high upside guys. We got a lot of DES guys and polished guys and then we went signability throughout the last 20 picks of the draft. This is gonna be an expensive draft, I can tell you that much, but I do think we will sign the majority of our signability guys.
  22. I dont disagree. In terms of raw talent drafted and if you assume every player signs, the sox have absolutely had the best draft outside of Washington (having two top 10 picks helps). I just have a hard time thinking they are going to get EVERY one of these guys. As a matter of fact, I expect the sox to set a record for players unsigned in a draft. And thats not being biased. I think the sox are swinging for the fences. They'll set a number on each high school kid, watch them this summer and then make a fair offer. A good amount of these kids will not sign, mostly because there wont be room for all of them and a good amount of them are worth more than their slots would entail.
