  1. Anyone who wants Boone fired is someone I have common ground with
  2. I feel for Nelson too. The kid really should be a mop up guy with a slow ascension into higher leverage roles. He’s been thrown into big roles early on and he hasn’t responded. I’d also change the hell out of his arsenal. He cannot locate the sinker as it moves too much. He seems to be trying to throw it in the zone to such a degree that he sucks at keeping it out of the middle of the zone. I’d convert him to a 4 seamer/slider guy and see if his location ticks up. He’s chucking 98 with an 6” tail. He might sit or top 100 as a four seam thrower
  3. We always start slow and then seem to reach a rock bottom before rocketing back. Need to see that happen. The team looks dead and I think Boone has realized that he’s managing for his job now
  4. And hey, let’s bring an opener in who is erratic while we have the starter sit back and wait for a lead to be given up? Great job Boone
  5. I wish for one game we could have a full stadium just so the boos could rain down on this f***ing abysmal excuse of an offense
  6. And honestly, I’m perplexed enough to at least envision the need for a change at the top. He’s got a lot of rope, IMO, and maybe his moves work out, but I’m really scratching my head here
  7. Coming into the year you had Andujar and Ford as options for 1b and Wade, Estrada for middle infield with the redundancy of Urshela and Lemahieu being able to shift over the diamond. I don’t know why they kept Bruce. I am really puzzled as to why they traded actual prospects for Odor and gave away Estrada. Really bizarre
  8. Hate the double hook idea and the deeper mound idea. The best idea possible would be to enforce a limited shift. Yes, guys throw harder and yes, hitting is harder, but when you can stack your fielders on one side of the field, it’s clearly made for an impediment to offense that’s changed the game. When MLB rid the world of the rocket ball, they unintentionally made the game less watchable since now there’s very little offense. Stop tinkering with the ball and the mound and the DH (although making it universal isn’t a bad idea). The game was fun when you had teams like the late 80s Cards who could hit for average and steal you to death. The shift really limits that since now we can tell where you hit the ball with a high degree of certainty.
  9. The problem we are seeing will get magnified as the season’s change into fall. This team K’s far, far too much. Beyond Lemahieu (who’s K’s more than his typical this far) everyone is swinging for the fences. We need a different approach. With the ball no longer juiced, you cannot plan your entire offense around the long ball
  10. They did, but Correia was a top talent and was someone they liked at 1 as well. If there are equal grades on a player and one costs less, go for it. But to draft a guy with a lower grade due to cost savings to grab someone who is free falling who might not be there at pick 2 is a risky game to play
  11. Might be time to bring Ford back up. God they cannot hit.
  12. He should be ready to pitch second half of 22
  13. Plus two of those losses were entirely attributable to the stupid new runner on second rule in extras. Both extra inning losses came by 1 run and it was the extra runner that scored. Our extra inning win, we scored 4, so we’d win with the runner or not
  14. Taillon’s issue last night was his breaking ball. He’s got a slider and a curve, but he was hanging them with regularity. He did give up some hits off the FB, but the breaking ball wasn’t fooling anyone. Those days happen. My bigger concern continues to be the offense. They just seem dead. No rallies, no fight
  15. First inning he was crisp. After that, a lot of middle middle breaking balls
  16. Offense has done dick through 3 and we have a deficit early? In other news, water is wet. I will say, this home plate ump is having a bad night. He’s calling 6 inches off the outside for Ryu and missing a lot of in the zone pitches from Taillon.
  17. $30 mil per annum for Sale, $30 mil per annum Thor, $25 mil per annum ERod
  18. That’s pretty accurate
  19. 4 titles in 17 years has spoiled a fair amount of your younger fans
  20. Possible, but Bloom is the GM and I doubt you ear mark $85 mil a year until Sale's contract runs out on your top 3
  21. This is a baseball fan forum. Yes, many, many of your brethren gloated when the sox were crushing it in 2018. I would have been too if I was a sox fan. When your team is better, I can take the punishment, the question is can you handle the reverse? Also, life is too short to feel relief when your team wins a title. Enjoy the run and feel the pain if the run comes crashing down, yet celebrate when they reach the mountain top. It's the beauty of life as a fan. Don't let it pass you by, life is too short
  22. I have said before and I will say again, if Eovaldi is anything but your #4 or 5, your rotation is at risk. He is a walking injury and he always has a stretch where he becomes maddeningly hittable. His stuff should dominate, but he never really does so beyond a month or two. I honestly think the sox may pass on re-signing ERod and make a run at Syndergaard. Noah has the bigger upside, also the biggest risk. But he can be the ace of the rotation and Sale can slot into the 2 hole and make a solid 1-2 punch.
  23. https://www.prospectslive.com/mlb-draft/2021/3/16/2021-mlb-mock-draft-30 Sox mocked to Marcelo Mayer, who will be a top 5 pick in this draft no doubt. Kid can play. With Hill likely down with a UCL injury and Leiter/Rocker mocked to be gone by 4, it looks to be Hoglund as the next pitcher off the board and the talent gulf seems pretty large. In the MLB draft, you take the best talent available since it can be so hit or miss. You never draft for positional necessity unless you have equal grades between players
  24. When you pick in the top 5, you don't play the under/over slot game unless you are the Pirates. You have a shot at a top talent, you take it
  25. Higashioka is on fire. Might we want to ride this guy and play him tomorrow? Yanks pitching was dominant today. Good to see. Hope to see the bats tomorrow vs Ryu.
