  1. Cruchy I believe BC won in Clemson and lost in NC
  2. It's official wells has been traded to the padres for a PTBNL or cash http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060831&content_id=1638749&vkey=news_bos&fext=.jsp&c_id=bos&partnered=rss_bos
  3. Stop second guessing mtbykr. You seemed to like when the sox originally got Beli Back These post are almost the exact upposites you start off saying that you like Beli in the newer post and saying you like bard in older one. Then you praised the one that you didn't say that you like in the newer and older post. Then you ended the newer post bashing the sox FO while in the older one you were praising the Sox FO. The only thing that is the same in both of the post is that you like both of the guys. This might just be nitpicking a little too much but my pet-peeve is second guessers and i especially hate it when people like the decision when it is first made and then bash it when it ends up going wrong.
  4. Wells pulled from thursday's start http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060831&content_id=1638749&vkey=news_bos&fext=.jsp&c_id=bos&partnered=rss_bos
  5. If they could Kottaras for Wells it would be awesome
  6. Their entire season hinges on the Yankees sieres if they win the sieres they still have a chance if they loose they have a snowballs chance in hell
  7. Are you kidding me did you not see the royals or tampa sieres. The red sox have gone 5-7 since tek's injury against the 4 worst teams in the AL. Varitek is the most important person on this team. Papi is close but Papi isn't the support of the entire pitching staff. The young pitchers seem to be less confident now that they have to pitch to Mirabeli or Lopez. Lester's ERA has climbed .50 points in his last three starts without Varitek. Delcarmen''s has climed .30 points, Hansen's is up .36, Beckett has an ERA of 6.75 in his two games without Varitek. I could keeping going on and on but the fact is that Varitek deserves every bit of money he gets.
  8. Morgan, Hornsby
  9. technically it wasn't a walkoff (left fielder made an error)
  10. BRACKET ONE Eddie Collins (Philadelphia Athletics) vs Chuck Knoblauch (Minnesota Twins) Charlie Gehringer (Detroit Tigers) vs Bill Mazeroski (Pittsburgh Pirates) Ryne Sandberg (Chicago Cubs) vs Tony Lazzeri (New York Yankees) Joe Gordon (New York Yankees) vs Billy Herman (Chicago Cubs) BRACKET TWO Rogers Hornsby (St. Louis Cardinals) vs Miller Huggins (Cincinnati Reds) Jackie Robinson (Brooklyn Dodgers) vs Davey Lopes (Los Angeles Dodgers) Frankie Frisch (St. Louis Cardinals) vs Jeff Kent (San Francisco Giants) Larry Doyle (New York Giants) vs Nellie Fox (Chicago White Sox) BRACKET THREE Nap Lajoie (Cleveland Guardians) vs Frank White (Kansas City Royals) vs Cupid Childs (Chicago Cubs) Craig Biggio (Houston Astros) vs Tony Cuccinello (Boston Braves) vs Dick McAuliffe (Detroit Tigers) Lou Whitaker (Detroit Tigers) vs Red Schoendienst (St. Louis Cardinals) Willie Randolph (New York Yankees) vs Johnny Evers (Chicago Cubs) BRACKET FOUR Joe Morgan (Houston Astros) vs Junior Gilliam (Los Angeles Dodgers) vs Manny Trillo (Chicago Cubs) Roberto Alomar (Toronto Blue Jays) vs Del Pratt (St. Louis Browns) Bobby Grich (California Angels) vs Bid McPhee (Cincinnati Reds) vs Tom Herr (St. Louis Cardinals) Bobby Doerr (Boston Red Sox) vs Buddy Myer (Washington Senators)
  11. 1. Arroyo to the Reds was a good trade for the Sox. - After his unbeliveable start, becuase no one in the NL remembered him, Arroyo has come back down to earth in his last ten starts. His era has raised .89 points and has lost his last four decisions. Arroyo is a #5 starter in the AL and now that we have WMP losing Nixon was actually been a good thing for the Sox and because they traded for WMP Theo doesn't have to re-sign Nixon giving them more money to go out and get PITCHING 2.Why would Theo release Wells - Since when is it common practice in baseball to release a lefty after pitching 180 innings, winning 15 games and having ERA under 4.5 the year before? Answer: NEVER 3. Why didn't Theo trade any of of his multiple pitching prospects (ie: Lester, Paps, MDC, Hansen, Bowden, Buccholz, and Martinez) at the deadline for another bat or why he trade all those prospects for Beckett if he doesn't understand the importance of pitching Answer: He does understand the importance of pitching Synopsis: Your theory is baseless
  12. I thought you had to be on the 40-man roster in order to be put through waivers. I think they could trade him without going through waivers. I'm not sure though. The problem would be that the Braves would probably want someone with MLB experience in return.
  13. I meant if he comes back from his injury and can't be a #5 starter which would be disapointing
  14. Even if two of the three SPs(Wakefield, Synder and Wells) are dissapointments. I'm pretty sure the Sox can still get a pitcher through waivers (ie: Lieber, Hernandez) if there desperate
  15. Your such a buzzkill
  16. Dude that's old news
  17. They're the worst broadcast team EVER
  18. Did you see the throw
  19. It better i wasted my entire day at this computer
  20. Holy Crap when i started writing there was only 2 pages
  21. Arroyo only did it two years in a row and barely did it the first year. After his unbeliveable start Arroyo has come back down to earth in his last ten starts his era has raised .89 pionts and has lost his last four decisions. Arroyo is a #5 starter and now that we have WMP the Sox can trade trot and crisp for a starter better than Arroyo. The same reason the Sox can afford Manny, Ortiz, Schilling, Beckett, Lowell, and Varitek. 2005: Wells and Clement: 28 wins Combined Salary: around 9 mil Pedro and Lowe: 27 wins Combined Salary: 17.5 mil Total: Wells and Clement: 33 wins Combined Salary: around 22 mil Pedro and Lowe: 43 wins Combined Salary: 30.5 mil 8.5 mil for 10 wins is a lot considering you still have to pay Pedro and Lowe another 44.5 mil and only 9.5 mil for Wells and Clement. Difference: 35 mil:thumbdown Pedro has a 6-5 record after the All-star break in two years in NY and a ERA around 3 so him being on the all-star team is not a good way to determine an entire season. Plus he is already starting to fall apart. We have three other players who have more than ten homers and each is making at least 3 mil less than Damon. You failed to mention that he would be fifth on the Red Sox in RBI. That was almost ten years ago that is an example that it WAS still done successfully
  22. Do you have a link
  23. I nearly missed in my pants when i saw his photo (aka mug shot) http://espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/5553.jpg
  24. And they win 95 games every year. I f***ing hate Billy Beane
