While this of course means nothing, here is Joe Sheehan's projection for Smoltz this year: I'll take it. 14 starts is around where most starters are right now, so that's a little more than 2 1/2 months. 73 IP is 5.21 IP per start.
I still think Holliday nets a nice deal--he's only 29 and teams are going to see his Colorado numbers from 2006-08. He shouldn't get as big of a deal as Bay (and he probably won't), but I think it's worth it for Oakland to offer arbitration.
It's probably this. He could be a decent back end of the rotation starter, but with Buchholz, Bowden and Tazawa ahead of him (and other lower level prospects that rank higher), it seems unlikely that it'll be with us.
I like those two, it helps embrace the craziness of my new franchise. But having it in NO may drive Thumper away.
Actually f*** that, Thumper is my #1 starter.
