    Its a sad state of affairs when your pen is useed to keep the game close, just in case they make a comeback ( See yesterday). I have some serious concerns about this team. I have never been a big fan of Tek and Trot, I think they are both overated on both sides of the ball. So if this team is going to run on the fuel of Manny and Tiz at the plate we are doomed. What if either one of them ever got hurt this year?

    Im well aware of their recent outings. Im just saying if they go 12 today and 10 on sunday what was the point of getting your best relievers work when you are behind?

    I agree , I just dont see the point in Timlin , Papplebon when you are down . Schill wasnt available? Why not "Foulkie"? I guess thats what infuriates me the most about Tito; Sometimes he plays to win tommorow, sometimes he loses to win tommorow. Either way hes got an excuse. Soon enough his excuse will be " My pen is tired".

    Last night on the pregame with Joe and Jerry, Tito mentioned how DiNardo would be out in the pen in case he was needed to come in . ( Read if Clement got lit up early). The plan was if he had to call Lenny in, a roster move would be made for todays start. Sounded good. I guess. Anyhoo. the next question from Trupe was about how managing a pitching staff is really the most taxing part of being a manager in the bigs, Tito agreed. So cue that glorious game footage.. Tito lets Clement go... for a very average start then he brings in Timlin and Papplebon, with the Sox down. Now if Lenny getss lit up today or by a miracle of God the Sox score some runs to give them a slim lead whats the game plan for the pen, Tito? This could be a vicious cycle, this pen may just be burnt toast by the end of May. And then will we still get a roster move Tito? Thoughts?

    There is no " magic" about it. A 320 career hitter may drop 20 points but he wont hit 230 for the year. All of these guys are under expectations, ( or should I say their actual real projected numbers for the year). Im new here but is it common for the Yankee fan to call any of us out if we display any sort of favoritism to the Sox on a Sox based website?

    That was my point. I was being sarcastic. Giving up 8 runs twice or three times a week is unacceptable.

    Im all for it, but like ESB26 says it should be a challenge type of call. I would also include hit batsmen in that ring of calls. I think balls and strikes are what they are. Untill they install a box of pudding behind the plate... ( Andleman)

    See I told yah.. Hes not a pleasant man. But that doesnt make his generousity great. Someday I too will grow up to be a poster that can put Bob Barker to shame.:thumbsup:

    I see the point. I also see a very mentally week Clement out there today. Robbing from the poor to give to the poor by moving Papplebon around may not be best but, what else can you do?

    As another poster said... Putting the good of the rotation in front of the good of the pen will land you in last place. Not sure what 6th grade science fair project he picked up that nugget of knowledge... Gotta keep that pen top notch when we are down by seven runs, every 2 out of 5 games. You guys act like Im suggesting Trot should catch Wake.
