The pitching has been good all season though, the reason this team is where they are is because Ortiz has given them s*** outside of a three week stretch, Lowrie has given them NOTHING, Drew/Lowell can't stay on the field, and Varitek is cooked. Theo assembled an old team even after it was clear they were an old team last season. He's made this bed and will lie in it, and right now it looks like this team won't be playing meaningful baseball in October.

Beckett's the best pitcher of the bunch and Lester being a lefty will be very effective against that lineup. Look, I'd give you the advantage but I also think it's much closer than you are positing here.
