    Varitek's never been good at throwing runners out.

    It does and it doesn't - I think if you play him in CF your offensive production from there will be good, but the defense will suffer. The opposite is true if you stick him in LF or RF. His defense will be good, but he might not hit enough. Still, you could do a lot worse for value here. He is only 27.
