  1. Good greif, you just proved my argument. Yes the sox would have gotten him if it wouldn't cost them that much....however why create a problem, ie logjam..... and take on that much money? the sox have greater needs than RF, so they choose to use the resources they have in another area---this is what i have been saying all along. You need to address the problems they have, RF is not one of them
  2. ya WMP is the RF for 2007---Abreu still has a huge contract for 2007--so what do you do with him? Plus we need to get him regular ab's this year. Trot is said to be back in a week, not the end of the year-----and they wlll not DFA Kaplar---he is a good defensive replacement. I will say it again though----why spend the money there when we have greater needs.......havng abreu in RF doesn't fix our starting pitching and bullpen problems,,,,but it takes a big chunch of the money we could use for that
  3. geez, even old man bernie is making those plays this weekend
  4. come on beckett, at least keep it close
  5. You are officially and idiot now, i have tried to be nice--------the yanks made sure there would be no problem first--as far as the sox i will not retype everything, go back and read them. your problem is that even when you are proven wrong, you still can't let it go and admit it
  6. when beckett can throw a strike they are meatballs---this could get ugly quick...and of course all this happens right after we take the lead
  7. Thanks beckett for killing the momentum and giving up the lead--so much for that big game pitcher we got
  8. Good grief, at least read my post before re-posting your argument that i just refuted:rolleyes: i will try and make it easy for you---the reason that the yanks won't have a problem is that before the trade they asked sheff and he said he would have no problem being the dh and giambi would stay at 1st. that way when sheff and matsui come back you have abreu, damon, matsui with sheff the dh----bernie and melky the backups ( which bernie was prepared for at the beggining of the year) all of this was set up before they made the deal the sox would only marginally improve while consuming a large portion of the payroll---it doesn't make sense when we have other needs that are greater to put our resources towards.
  9. Keep the hammer down becuase when RJ gets flustered, he is able to get hit hard
  10. Bend over and forget about the no-hitter RJ-----MANRAM
  11. Well you are completely missing the point. Why do we spend all that time and money on a position that we don't have a problem with---and possibly cause a distraction in doing so (the afformentioned logjam) What's with all the manlove to the yanks and abreu????? I never even heard one talking head say that the sox should have done this---even theo said it didn't make sense. You must realize that eventhough abreu is killing us this weekend, having him on our team would not make the team better as a whole--we are better served to try and fix our pen!
  12. Geez they just siad the sox have been at bat for 12 minutes while the yanks have 37----not good guys
  13. great, beckett's on his way to 100 pitches in 5 innings while RJ will pitch a complete game:rolleyes:
  14. They are not worried about him complaining becuase sheff (they already said) will DH most of the time and melky will be the backup OF with Abreu the everyday RF. You also need to pay attention to what i said. If we got Abreu we would have Kapler, Trot (you can't assume he's not coming back) , WMP, and Abreu--that's too many and Abreu is not getting an everyday spot. Then what do you do next year with him when you expect WMP to be the everyday player. It makes zero sense to get him and pay him that much money when RF is not your problem---the sox have much bigger issues to spend their money and time on....just becuase you like it doesn't mean it's right
  15. Ok, who do we get rid of then for Abreu? Also i don't believe he would play everyday which then he'd complain--then if trot comes back we have trot, WMP, Kapler, and Abreu to platoon. Let's also not confue Hinske in this; he was gotten to be a lefty off the bench who can play in right if needed, but will usually sub at 1st and 3rd. Hinske will be a Parttime player---Abreu would yell about playing everyday
  16. Well this sucks, beckett getting squeezed and can't get the close calls while RJ get's a close borderline pitch forcing deuce to swing at a bad pitch and ground into a DP-----going to be a long day
  17. I hope you are joking.......Abreu does nothing for us---we don't improve much with him and it's not worth the money
  18. Way to start good beckett------so much for being our stopper:blink:
  19. Nice job guys, let's give RJ the easiest inning of his life:rolleyes: by the way i missed pregame---is gonzo hurt????? why is he not playing much lately? I thought i saw him limping wed, but nothing ever came of it
  20. The sox are not done---but they need to get their act together quickly or they will be too far behind to do anything about it. The problem is they don't look like they can pull themselves out of it--they have looked terrible for quite a while now. --- and it doesn't help when Timlin throws the offense under the bus like he did last night. What this team needs is for someone to be the "millar and JD" kind of guys who keep a team loose despite what's going on in the standings---and it doesn't help that Tek is still on the sideline.....if they are going to have any chance this year, we will know it by this time next weekB)
  21. If WMP or Trot make that catch then they don't send the runner as it was real shallow and both guys have a good arm. Trot would be harder against as he's pretty accurate and he would have been in a better position as he throws lefty.
  22. I agree that Ped will prob be a better 2nd baseman next year over Loretta. However all this originated when you said the sox should DFA Loretta now and bring Ped up----my opinion of course, but that's just dumb. Let's not toss a kid out there in the middle of a penant race when 2nd base is not our problem.....Let's finish out this year and hope that Ped can hold down the starting job next yearB)
  23. Jsinger is the one clammoring for the sox to DFA Loretta, not CrespoB)
  24. Not here in Virginia---friggin cops:rolleyes: And baltimore is local for me, go figure:thumbdown
