  1. no team is ever grown through their own system totally. The best teams are those that have a young core coming up and solid veterans around them. The yankees were the best example with Mo, Jeter, Posada, and Pettitte coming up and they were surrounded with great vets.....
  2. they didnt do it through their farm system. The only guys they had that were farm guys were Crede and Rowand on offense and Buerhle in the rotation...
  3. The White sox also had a strong offensive strategy with the ability to hit the long ball and manufacture runs...
  4. Clement just passed Fossum in ERA in the bad direction...
  5. For the most part, hitters don't need a huge rehab. Also, the fact that I am a med student shouldnt play into it. The fact is, Loretta has shown nothing to disprove the suggestion that he has lost his power. You cannot dispute that....
  6. He was injured, had surgery, rehabbed appropriately and came back for almost 500ABs. He was healthy last yr when he played....
  7. Here's the deal man. Graf LOVED Boston, f***ing loved it. When you get guys who love where they play, they get comfortable and they get consistent. I think Graf would have had a similar type of yr....
  8. Who would have thought, Jaret Wright would be outpitching Clement to this point. Wright sucks, what does that say about Clement?...
  9. is there any excuse you won't use?
  10. he had 481 ABs last yr. I think that is enough to make a determination...
  11. btw, that popup would have been a triple if Travis Lee fell down and the ball were hit about 11 feet further...
  12. So his ground outs today would have been hits if they were in the holes? You can say that about anybody....
  13. I am making the conviction over the past 2 yrs...
  14. the yankees have the second most only because they have the best OBP in the game, BY FAR. The team OBP is .392 and the next highest is .369 by CLE...
  15. Well, we basically got beat by Seth McClung. The TB rotation has the capability with their stuff. They just cannot do it consistently...
  16. a low BABIP could indicate a lack of power, ie a lack of getting it over the fielder's heads, the lack of being able to drive it to the gap. His eye is great, always has been and he has never lost that. His ability to drive the ball is gone. That was his scouting report out of SD and he has done nothing but prove it thus far....
  17. I believe he was 30. He was a tiger and a met at one point and was supposed to be the next coming. He was great in Norfolk before the mets brought him up and he was serviceable in the NL East. Then he was dealt away and was horrible again. He is a minor league journeyman who could be a short term patch job pitcher, but he isnt a guy you could hang your hat on, that is if he doesnt turn out to be the next Aaron Small....
  18. He has a sluggin percentage of .301. That is horrible. Last yr, his slugging percentage was in the .300s with a .280 BA. The guy lost his power when he broke his thumb...
  19. I can buy that...
  20. Loretta came of his second thumb injury and has shown a total lack of power since. At his age and after such a bad injury, you cannot rule out the fact that he could be sliding for good...
  21. the pen is gonna get some work again tonight...
  22. Clement is horrible, so is wright....
  23. I know redoctober. Good for you. BTW, Jaret Wright is facing Halladay, I am not expecting us to win tonight. You should win this game...
  24. I think Fossum caught Jaret Wright disease...
