  1. OH NOOOOO.....you went all 3rd person!! I don't tend to try to figure people out too much on the internet. Based on my observations of your posts I think you need to be able to laugh at yourself from time to time and recognize when it is time to drop something or simply let it go.
  2. Based on the fact that he pitches for the Red Sox and not the NYY
  3. I'm not sure what he means by "a person like Theo" but you do take shots at our GM on a pretty regular basis and you do seem to dislike him, despite 2004 and 2007. He didn't call you a deadbeat and accuse you of not having balls (over a stupid bet). Sorry bro, you are on your own. Perhaps Spud will come to your defense.:dunno:
  4. Epstein lists his priorities Posted by Peter Abraham, Globe Staff December 6, 2010 09:34 PM Just back from Theo Epstein's suite, where the beat writers met with him with about half an hour. A few of the highlights: • Asked to name his priorities at this point after trading for Adrian Gonzalez, he said: "Bullpen, bullpen, integrate a right-handed bat into the mix." Epstein said he is fine with the lineup as it is and doesn't believe it is too left-handed provided they have right-handed options on the bench. An outfield move, he said, would be "more complementary" at this stage. That would seem to indicate the Red Sox are not willing to meet the demands of Carl Crawford. Of course that could change at any time. • Epstein said he expected to acquire at least two relievers via trade or free agency. • With the Gonzalez trade would give him pause about using more prospects to make a major deal, he feels the 2010 draft was strong, they're well-equipped with picks for the 2011 draft and they like their volume in the lower levels. • He did not rule out Adrian Beltre, saying anything was possible. But he said Kevin Youkilis is the third baseman and there are no plans to play him in left field. • Epstein said Ryan Kalish still needs time in AAA but if the team's needs are such, he could start the year in the majors. • The Sox are still talking with Hideki Okajima's agent. Hopefully it's about him cleaning out his locker. • He expects there to be a lot of activity this week based on the chatter so far and the players who have already signed or been traded. • The Sox, he said, offered "a mammoth five-player package" for Gonzalez at the trade deadline in 2009 and thought they had a chance at him.
  5.
  6. Nice. My boyfriend has him in one of his leagues too.
  7. Gonzo has a rooting interest in Foxboro Posted by Peter Abraham, Globe Staff December 6, 2010 07:39 PM Had to pass this nugget along, courtesy of Globe colleague Mike Vega: Adrian Gonzalez is headed to the Patriots-Jets game tonight and he told Mike that he picked up Danny Woodhead for his fantasy team. Just another reason for Boston fans to love him.
  8. I'm with you Youk has been and will be fine at 3rd again. I love Beltre but he produced during a contract year. There is no room for him with the Sox anymore and he will be missed. I hope he'll get a great deal and am sure he will.
  9. Why don't you just drop it already? BSN07 is a great member of this forum and he has a lot to add/share and thank gawd he is one of the more positive posters out here. He was obviously joking with you the whole time but you have to turn into an ass and call him a deadbeat (way to "man up" and take back the no balls comment). I'm sure we're all glad that you like betting action and have the spine to put yourself on the line with those things. But not everyone does for various reasons that are none of your or my business. Chill out.
  10. Gonzalez and Cameron will play the numbers game for 23 Posted by Peter Abraham, Globe Staff December 6, 2010 05:29 PM Adrian Gonzalez wore No. 23 in San Diego. But he put on a jersey that was blank on the back when he was introduced today at Fenway Park Gonzo wants No. 23 in Boston, too. But that the property of Mike Cameron and under the unwritten rules of baseball etiquette, he is under no obligation to give it up. "I have 15 years in this league," Cameron said by phone from his home in Georgia. "They can't just take it from me." But Mike is a reasonable fellow. He didn't even want 23, having worn 25 or 44 for most of his career. But Mike Lowell had 25 and wanted to keep it and Cameron didn't want to take 44, knowing that Jason Bay had worn it in 2009. "That would have just started trouble," he said. Now Cameron is willing to take 44 and give up 23 to Gonzalez. But there will have to be a little tribute. "He's going to have 160 million ways to make me happy," Cameron said, laughing. "No, that's not me. I'll have him make a little donation to the Boys & Girls Club." Cameron and Gonzalez played together in San Diego from 2006-07. Cameron predicts big things for the first baseman at Fenway Park. "It's a perfect park for him because he can go to the other way or go down the line in right," Cameron said. "The guy is an all-around good player and he's going to make a big difference for us." Cameron is glad the trade got done now as opposed to during the season. "Now AG gets all winter and spring training to settle in and that's important," he said. "Plus we open up on the road. So by the time we get to Boston and he's dealing with the expectations, he'll have some games under his belt." Cameron believes Gonzalez will make a smooth transition to the clubhouse as well. "He's quiet but he's friendly, like Jason Bay," Cameron said. "People like him and he's bi-lingual, which helps. I think he's going to do fine." Cameron said he "as close to 100 percent" as he can get after having surgery in August to repair the torn abdominal muscles that sidetracked his first season in Boston. A right-handed hitter with power, Cameron could play a key role for the Red Sox in 2011 in the outfield and as a DH.
