  1. Yeah. Shockingly brilliant. :thumbdown The Thurman Munson "jokes" are pathetic enough but 9/11? Horrible. I don't think I've ever seen anything like that out here before. And I hope I never do again. Ever.
  2. Was gonna ask how Valdes pitches. But now it's 3-2 with only 1 out.
  3. Not just tonight. The entire month of September if you haven't noticed. But go ahead and act like an ass hat. You really need to STFU and you KNOW it.
  4. Jacoby and Marco!
  5. JD Drew, the miracle healer. 1B
  6. Love the GIDP!!
  7. They just said that Showalter sprained his ankle. DOH!
  8. Nice play Josh!
  9. I still feel good about tonight.
  10. MLB Network here has Phillies and Braves. So I get MASN and Jim Palmer's annoying homer ass.
  11. Not good news for Beckett: Lineup change for Red Sox: Jason Varitek replaced by Jarrod Saltalamacchia Posted by Peter Abraham, Globe Staff September 26, 2011 06:42 PM By Peter Abraham, Globe Staff BALTIMORE — Jason Varitek was just scratched and replaced by Jarrod Saltalamacchia. Varitek has a bruised right knee, the result of being hit by a pitch yesterday. Varitek has caught all but one of Josh Beckett's 29 starts this season. That was his first start of the season, on April 5 in Cleveland. With Saltalamacchia catching, Beckett allowed three runs in five innings that day with four walks, his season high.

  14. More on Jacoby Ellsbury's historical season Posted by Peter Abraham, Globe Staff September 26, 2011 01:58 PM By Peter Abraham, Globe Staff BALTIMORE — Jacoby Ellsbury has 208 hits, 117 runs, 45 doubles, 31 homers, 103 RBIs, 38 steals and five triples. Nobody in baseball history has ever had a season hitting those marks in those seven categories. The most comparable season was Alfonso Soriano in 2002. He had 209 hits, 128 runs, 51 doubles, 39 homers, 102 RBIs, 41 steals and two triples. Ellsbury is hitting .322/.377/.551 while Soriano hit .300/.332/.547 for the Yankees that season. He finished third in the MVP voting behind Miguel Tejada and Alex Rodriguez. For you fans of advanced metrics, Soriano had a 4.7 WAR that season. Jacoby is at 7.3 this season. So Ellsbury clearly had the better season. It'll be interesting to see where Ellsbury lands in the MVP voting. He has clearly passed teammates Adrian Gonzalez and Dustin Pedroia and deserves to be the top-ranked Red Sox. The question is whether voters will reward Justin Verlander for what he has done for the division-champion Tigers or give the award to the statistically overwhelming (.304/.447/.615) Jose Bautista. Ellsbury seems sure to finish no worse than third and could well win it. Another game-winning home run with all of baseball watching might make the difference.
  15. Welcome aboard!
  16. But it does explain why he was so pissed and what he was upset about after the game. That's why I posted in this thread.

  18. Not sure why he didn't wait until the off-season..... Boston Red Sox Pitcher John Lackey Divorcing Wife Battling Cancer, Report Says Published September 26, 2011 | TMZ Boston Red Sox pitcher John Lackey has filed to divorce his wife, Krista, who is in the middle of battling breast cancer, TMZ reports. Lackey filed on August 30, according to court docs in Texas, claiming "the marriage has become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities." Krista and John got married in November, 2008. Sources close to the family tell TMZ that Krista underwent a double mastectomy in March and underwent chemotherapy as recently as June. The divorce petition says John and Krista had a prenup. It also says Lackey has "separate property" he wants to keep for himself. Lackey filed the divorce papers using only his and Krista's initials, a tactic Tony Parker and Eva Longoria, and Sandra Bullock and Jesse James, also used in their Texas divorces. It's unclear why Lackey, who's struggled on the field all season long, didn't wait until the off-season, which for the reeling Red Sox could start in a week or so, to start divorce proceedings. Lackey's camp had no comment
