  1. does anyone know when this Hellickson kid is going to his prom? he looks like hes about 17
  2. great SEC match-up tonight in Starksville!
  3. no s*** to that .... i've never seen a bat/ball reach the SS at the same time like that When it rains it pours
  4. Wife, As a general rule, tickets go on sale in early-mid December. It is a s***-fight of epic proportions to get them directly from the Red Sox. You can sign up at RedSox.com to be in a free lottery for "special" tickets, e.g., Yankee games, Monster seats and reserved tables on the RF roof. Believe it or not, people do actually win these (I've gotten Monster seats, Yanks tix and RF Roof seats through the lottery) If you arent selected in the lottery then the day all the tickets go on sale to the general public, you can plan on being in a RedSox.com virtual waiting room for the better part of the morning. You'll have better luck with weekday games than weekends. But I think that goes without saying. I'd stay away from April and May tickets because the weather is unpredictable at best and theres not much worse than having a nice lower box seat that you paid $135 for and its a rainy Tuesday night in April and the temp is 39 degrees and the wind is blowing 20 mph (early season winds blow in almost exclusively, FYI) If you don't mind paying a little more, StubHub and Ace Ticket can be a valuable resource but the better the game, and the day of the week, plus the time of the year can jack the price on some tickets into triple and even quadruple figures. Check these sites out of you cant get anything directly from the Red Sox but shop around games, days and sites. Use common sense. The beauty of life in this day and age is that if you want a ticket to literally anything it is available to you as long as you're willing to pay Boston has a shitload of great restaurants. The North End (near the Garden) has awesome Italian. My personal favorite in the North End is Massiminos. I think its on Endicott St. It doesnt have the flash and je ne c'est quoi of a fancier place like Strega or Bricco but the food compares with the best of them. Abe & Louie's is the best steak house in the city IMHO, but theres a Capital Grille, a Ruth Chris, a Morton's, plus the Palm but those are all pretty expensive. The No Name Restaurant on Atlantic Ave (I think) is a great place for seafood, as is the Barking Crab on the Waterfront Santarpio's in East Boston and Regina in the North End are great pizza places And Rino's Italian Eatery in East Boston is the best restaurant that no ones ever heard of. As much as I love the North End and the quality Italian Food you can get there, Rino's has the best Italian Food - possibly on Earth ENJOY!!! and good luck
  5. Fenway Park - easily 200 games since my first on July 27, 1976, a 9-8 over Cleveland, if memory serves me right. Other big games at Fenway: - 9/27/86 Bruce Hurst 9 inning shutout beating Toronto 2-0 puts the Sox on the brink of the AL East title - and the next day .... 9/28/86, Oil Can Boyd beats Toronto 12-2 to clinch the East. If anyone has this on tape, 15 yr old TMW is in the crowd holding a "Red Sox Will Bring the Angels Down to Earth" sign - 10/6/90 - My first playoff game, the birth of Mrs Dave Stewart as all world superstar Gutless Roger Clemens comes out in the 6th inning and the Sox get pounded, 10-1 or something like that - 10/16/99 - down 2-0 in the ALCS to the Yankees, the Matchup of the Decade, Clemens vs Pedro on a gorgeous fall afternoon on Boston. Pedro strikes out 12 over 7 innings allowing two hits, Clemens, predictably, can't handle the big stage and is yanked after giving up 6 in two innings - 10/13/03 - Game 4 ALCS, Tim Wakefield beats the Yanks 3-2 - 10/6/04 - Game 2, ALDS, Pedro beats the Angels - 10/12/07 - Game 1 ALCS, Sox pound Sabathia, Beckett shuts down Cleveland And the coup de gras .... 10/25/07 - Game 2 of the World Series, Schiling out-duels Ubaldo Jiminez 2-1 Back to the topic .... other stadiums: 2. Olympic Stadium in Montreal 3. Candlestick Parkin San Fran 4. Alameda County Coliseum in Oakland 5. The Big A in Anaheim (old stadium) 6. The new Angel Field in Anaheim 7. Yankee Stadium in the Bronx 8. Camden Yards in Baltimore 9. Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia 10. Shea Stadium in Queens
  6. on a day that everyone should be focusing on peace, love & understanding, this may be one of the most disgusting things i have ever had the displeasure of reading
  7. thank you both a lot of people, myself included at times, forget that these guys are people too. and it doesnt matter if you make $15,000,000 a year or $15,000, everyone has a life outside of what they do to make those dollars and in the context of this day in history, speculating on john lackeys attitude is so ridiculously petty it borders on nauseating lackey deserves better, performance issues aside
  8. And here-in lies John Lackeys real problem since coming to Boston, you are 100% right With regard to Lackey's attitude, which someone mentioned as a problem, I don't think thats the case at all. Lackey, if nothing else, has always been a competitor. While people sit here and rip Lackey apart for not caring, for making too much money, and all the other peripheral issues that he is being slammed for, put yourself in his shoes. Since he signed with the Red Sox: - His wife mis-carried - And she is fighting stage 3 cancer Thats a lot for anyone to deal with. And if anyone here that bitches and f***ing whines that he doesn't care, or is dis-interested then like I said, put yourself in his shoes. And the money thing???? f***ing get over it. Someone said he's a thief? Get a f***ing clue. Thats the most assinine thing I have ever read. If you can say with 100% honesty that YOU wouldn't have signed the contract he signed then you're a better man than I am. The Red Sox offered him the contract and they can hardly be faulted because unfortunately you can't predict the s***-storm of bad luck he's had off the field, through NO FAULT OF HIS OWN, mind you. If you can walk through life oblivious to the fact that your wife/girlfriend/boyfriend/husband/parent is one stage of cancer away from a f***ing death sentence then again, you're a stronger man than I am. Cut the guy a f***ing break. There's more important things in life than f***ing baseball.
  9. And WTF are they supposed to throw out there? Becketts out Bucholz is out Matsuzaka is out Wakefield, Lackey & Miller are who, I assume, you're referring to as the 1.5 WHIP guys. So after Jon Lester, just who the f*** do you expect to see out there?
  10. my lord does this weiland kid look young
  11. I don't know if I would go so far as to say the Big Ten "sucks" but the SEC is a superior conference, for sure. I suspect Wisconsin will make some noise on the national scene this year.
  12. Thats not good Sports Hernias = a lot of pain
  13. They said that in the telecast last night, too With all the s*** pitchers they had, especially back in the early part of the 80's, this is as true a testament of his body of work this year that you'll find. The only time he finds the plate he's right around the middle of it and nobody is scared of his 88mph fastball. And his playoff successes were a looooong time ago
  14. There's not a lot that can keep me off a big college football game like Alabama and Penn St this afternoon, but this Men's Semi-Final at the US Open between Federer and Novak Djokovic(sp?) is something special.
  15. Thank you sir I didn't know they signed the lead singer from the Stone Temple Pilots
  16. something is up in that game ive been around long enough to know when the odds-makers are f***ING BEGGING YOU TO TAKE THE POINTS that its a red flag i smell a rat in this game
  17. LOL how the f*** are they a 4.5 pt favorite in Ann Arbor??
  18. They're off and f***ing running again tonight Jesus
  19. LOL this thread is funny
  20. playing poorly is never a good thing, but its probably better that they get this s*** out of their system before the end of the month rolls around
  21. too bad pedroia didnt forget his passport - he was a no-show in this series
  22. everyone loves the eagles???
