  1. Incredibly well said, dude Mind if I expand on a few things here? Unfortunately there are always gonna be people who wanna sing after a loss like you describe and its pretty much a joke but you cant really blame the guy who CATCHES the HR for being excited. Ive been to over 200 games and Ive never been close to a HR although i did get a foul ball hit by Ernie Whitt about a hundred years ago To quote the great Bluto Blutarsky: "Where's the spirit .... Where's the guts?" They have none The current Red Sox are everything the true Red Sox fans have despised for a loooong time. They are a collection of hired guns. Overpaid, underperforming whores who will have the unmitigated gaul to offer you a $200 hand job after you get hepatitis from her bleeding gums from the blowjob she gave you last year. They are the Yankees now Or their business model is certainly very similar And the fan-base has this ******** sense of entitlement that only existed before 2004 in the mile wide, inch deep fan base in the Bronx It's f***ing shameful And this forum is largely a microcosm of that reality As for ripping the team, either fans or media, thats really irrelevant. Ripping them a new ******* over every little thing is equivalent to drinking the Kool Aid. Neither really serves any purpose. The team lacks leadership The team lacks heart And they have the balls of a castrated field mouse I like Francona In the grand scheme of things, he won and thats what really matters But accountability starts at the top And John Henry aint gonna accept it from his private suite at the soccer games in London. Theo ain't gonna accept it cuz he's just Brian Cashman Jr now, you can nit pick some of his moves but no GM hits 1.000 and he spends the money they let him spend. The accountability will, and should, start with Francona As an organization, they should start making a few less Dunkin Dark Roast commercials and get back to some organizational accountability .... to a man.
  2. Christ on the Cross - go get f***ing Bedard No f***ing balls what-so-ever
  3. If you never believe a word I say, believe this . . . You're better off not having remembered or been around for the fall of 1986 My childhood ended that autumn
  4. I was 15 yrs old in 1986 He was my hero Especially that year His guts and courage in Sept & Oct of 1986 were epic
  5. Tell Bruce Hurst he is still my idol if you see him
  6. thats a great profile pic, hawkguy
  7. HAppy Birthday I hope you get a meaningful baseball game in October as a present
  8. Well said Our fan base has become a lot wider and more shallow since 2004
  9. I admire you're capacity to dream But there would be an investigation by Congress, the Justice Dept, the FBI and the Dept of Homeland Security if the Giants GM ever did that. Not to mention he'd be 50/50 to be lynched publically.
  10. a history degree from Yale and you can be President
  11. Tom Yawkey was a racist, there's no debate on that.
  12. God I love your posts If only we had pitched Pedro Curt Bruce Luis Aceves in every game this Sept we'd be setting the rotation for October and they'd be polishing the Cy Young Award for him
  13. If Tom Yawkey was still alive there wouldn't be a brown-skin in a management position from Fenway to Fort Myers. I'm not even sure they'd have any on the field. Ole Tom and Jean Yawkey werent what you'd refer to as racially sensitive.
  14. Have you watched any Red Sox / Rays games before this year? This may be the single most idiotic thing i have ever read on here. Seriously ..... did you start watching baseball two years ago? What years did Tampa own the Red Sox? I must've been into painkillers a little too much and blacked out for a few years. Did Tampa own them from 2001-2007 when the Red Sox had a 92-40 record vs them? '01 14-5 '02 16-3 '03 12-7 '04 14-5 '05 13-6 '06 10-9 '07 13-5 The fact of the matter is the Rays have finished the season with a winning record against the Red Sox FOUR times including this year. Try watching some games I think you can get em on TV pretty much anywhere
  15. "Spahn and Sain and Pray for Rain" It goes back to the days of the ooooooold Braves teams when they had two great starting pitchers and pretty much nothing else. Our Red Sox are similar right now EXCEPT Jon Lester ain't no Warren Spahn and Josh Beckett is no Johnny Sain. Anyone who's read my inane ramblings over the years knows I am a firm believer that to win in October, you need five things 1. Pitching 2. Pitching 3. Pitching 4. Defense (especially up the middle ... C, SS, 2B, CF) 5. Timely hitting We're pretty much f***ed on 1-3 4 is fine, better than average and 5 is ok because that team can hit The problem is that in most post-seasons, like 99%, all the offense in the world aint gonna overcome a sub par pitching staff and right now, "sub-par" is a VERY GENEROUS description of the Sox staff. I'm not throwing in the towel because if a collapse of this proportion is possible, than a positive turn around of the same magnitude is also possible if they manage to luck their way into the post season But the fact of the matter is this .... Pitching wins in October And this team ain't even close right now in that regard. Whats winning the Wild Card get em? A chance A fleeting chance for a staff in a downward spiral to bounce back and for guys who have no right stepping up doing just that It's happened before But it don't happen often so keep expectations tempered lest you find yourself ready to jump out a window in the coming days
  16. Hats off to Josh Beckett tonight Not for the WAY he pitched, but for actually pitching at a pace that didnt make the game unbearable to watch. Beckett is the prime offender in baseball for taking waaaay to much time between pitches and he was very reasonable tonight. Papelbon is the same way Nice effort getting outta the mess right there by Aceves
  17. i went to Amsterdam and i think it was great - can't really remember
  18. papi, i may be exaggerating a little in that description but not that much hernias will bring the toughest guys to their knees i imagine his system has probably built up a tolerance to cortizone so theres no value in injecting him every x number of days to keep the pain in check i suspect his wife is going through a lot of batteries for her vibrator cuz i dont think youk's in any shape to fulfill his manly obligations
  19. do you have anything of value to add or are you just gonna sit on your computer and whine like a little ****?
  20. this statement is so ridiculously true hats off to youkilis for playing in pain, and he is in A LOT of pain a sports hernia is incredibly painful imagine getting kicked in the balls and that pain that lingers around for what seems like eternity is what youk walks around with all day every day plus all the other little dings and it adds up to a guy that needs a couple month off at best this Red Sox team in general is having a tremendously difficult time staying healthy the last two years
  21. jesus .... they let him off the hook
