  1. the PTBNL is problay some low-A prospect from a list the FO gave to CLE that will be decided at a later date. I doubt its any of our recently drafted 1st rounders or any kind of top prospect.
  2. Crisp to Boston Done http://www.cleveland.com/newslogs/plaindealer/index.ssf?/mtlogs/cleve_plaindealer/archives/2006_01.html
  3. From all indications Reed is not available and the M's arent going to take Arroyo or Clement for him, that makes no sense from their stand-point so if we want Reed then it would probaly cost Lester/Papelbon/ or Marte which the Red Sox arent gonna do. So if the only way to get a CF is by trading Marte then Theo better make sure its Crisp as hes hte best option out there.
  4. deal close to being done? From Rotoworld.com FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal believes the Red Sox and Guardians are close to completing a Coco Crisp trade. Rosenthal doesn't have the particulars, though he believes the Guardians are still getting Andy Marte and Guillermo Mota. It's possible that the previous six-player swap, which included catchers Kelly Shoppach and Josh Bard changing teams and David Riske going to Boston, will go through after all. Jan. 27 - 4:35 pm et
  5. I read somewhere that the physical showed no new injuries that the Sox and Guardians didnt already know about, anyone else hear that?
  6. argh i was hoping they could get something done w/ that
  7. If we wouldnt be trading Marte then we pretty much HAVE to trade either Clement or Arroyo. Not really a way around that unless your thinking of including a Lester/Papelbon prospects which is certainly not happening. Fact of the matter is, if you can get Crisp for a SP (which we have 7 of) and you get to keep Marte then thats one amazing move. If theres any truth to it, is yet to be seen...
  8. Yea i agree, reports im hearing is that at the moment its not happening. If the Red Sox can get a solid OF like Kearns/Micheals/ or even Matos AND keep Marte then id be very happy with teh decision.
  9. Have to go with Youks, Snow is a late inning defensive replacement/platoon mate. But Youkillis HAS to get more ABs, at least 400+. Youk is a good player its time Fracona stopped wasting him on the bench.
  10. Absolutely, Theo knows the direction of this team. Hes got a tremendous support staff, hes one of the top GMs in the league, definetly glad hes back.
  11. Should Foulke struggle (which I doubt) but in the event that he does, Timlin has proven hes capable of being hte go-to guy. I view Riske as more of a 7th inning guy (assuming Timlin is in the 8th and Foulke 9th), not as much pressure for him and I think he could be very effective also splitting time with Seanez, Tavarez, etc.
  12. its probaly false then but Marte/Shoppach/Mota for Crisp/Bard with no Riske = :thumbdown X 100
  13. Well thats obviously the most ideal trade for us, but the Guardians would never go from Mota to DelCarmen and then swap Bard for one of the best RHP prospects in the game. I think at this point its either CLE accepts whats on the table or call it off, theres absolutely no way we can go from Mota to Delcarmen without upping there side of the bargain, and Theo knows it.
  14. is MDC being included pure speculation by us or is there some truth to it?
  15. Not to mention a 4th OF
  16. Adding MDC would only make the deal worse for us, Marte/MDC/Shoppach for Crisp/Riske/Bard isnt hte kind of deal that is going to help us in the long-run. I doubt anyone here would trade DelCarmen for Mota at this point so unless Bard is replaced with a significant prospect such as Sowers, Garko or Snyder which probaly wouldnt happen. If CLE made up this stuff about Mota and the Red Sox found out id call off the talks immediatlely and tell CLE the only place they will see Marte is at 3B for the Boston Red Sox.
  17. No doubt this kid has potential, he was taken in last years draft (early second round I believe) out of High School where he mashed the ball. Hes somewhat raw at this point but hes got a very high ceiling at the plate.
  18. you dont trade 3 top ten prospects in a top 10 system without getting a very substantial player period. Crisp is good but theres no way he merits trading 3 top 10 prospects even if Riske is included. If DC is what it takes now then hang up, and go get Matos or something. DONT GET DESPERATE here, and Im pretty sure the Red Sox wont Theo knows dam well what hes doing.
  19. If we can get Matos within the next day I think it puts some pressure on CLE to show we have a CF, and that they either offer something good or Marte stays a Red Sox.
  20. Yea I like hte decision, Epstein is clearly the best person for the job and giving Cherrington and Hoyer good positions of control should also obe involved here as mentioned in hte article.
  21. Dont trade Marte at all sounds better, and just put Matos in CF or something for hte season. Plus we cant trade Seanez or Tavarez until June 15th or sometime around then since we just signed them as FAs.
  22. Matos would be a nice 4th OF but as someone mentioned on sosh, he put up a .297 .368 .466 .835 line vs. LHPs in 2005 but over a 3-year period he posted dismal .236 .302 .353 .655 numbers vs. LHPs so it depends on which Matos your getting and if 05 was a fluke or not.
  23. No, I dont think many people see Marte being David Wright or Cabrera next season, probaly if he wasnt/isnt traded he would begin hte year in AAA or as a platoon player at 3B. If he were to hit .200 next year as a part time player I wouldnt think of that as "hes done" but if hes a .870+ OPS guy in say 07 or 08 then I wouldnt be happy. But that all depends on how Crisp does. If Crisp is a .315/.365/.485/.850 hitter with speed at a position like CF is that as valuable as a .277/.370/.555/.925 hitter at a power position like 3B?
  24. Heck id probaly give up Marte/Mota/Shoppach for Crisp and Miller alone, but I doubt it happens. If the Sox can find a way to get like a Marte/Mota/Shoppach for Crisp/Riske/Garko id probaly feel better about the deal. Unfortunatly this is the price for a good young CF, the Sox werent going to get a Jeremy Reed/Coco Crisp without trading a top prospect, as much as many wanted to see an Arroyo/Clement deal get done.
