    Great win for the sox today....too bad I didn't have the day off to watch it live. It was gamecast for me today.

    I can see it with my own eyes. Beckett's stuff is superior to Clement's and it is not even close. He has a better curveball hence what we saw to Richie Sexson today. His fastball is completely explosive. I really can't believe people are comparing Beckett to someone like Matt Clement.

    Beckett throws in the upper 90's with better secondary stuff while Clement pitches in the high 80's to low 90's and his secondary pitches are not as good. Beckett is an ace while Clement is a #3 pitcher.

    The diffrenece between the two is Hansen is a reliever and Scherzer is starter. No chance he drops to the sox even with Boras is his agent.

    Manny came up as a right fielder with the Guardians and only moved to Left field once he signed with Boston.

    Jeff Samardzija is a two sport athlete at ND. Hes a righthanded pitcher with a big frame 6'5 215. So far on the season he is 5-1 with a 3.83 era. Samardzija I believe is better football player than he is a baseball player. He is a pro prospect in both sports but he is a better receiver than he is a pitcher and is likely to go to the NFL.

    He might slip but likely won't slip to Boston or the Yankees. Don't know if he is looking for a major league contract but I wouldn't be shocked if he does since Boras clients tend to seek major league deals at times.

    Max Scherzer out of Missouri is an excellent pitcher. His fastball is electric and is upwards of 99 MPH. But I don't think he goes number 1 and it has nothing to do with talent. He did hurt his finger this year and has only pitched in 6 games thus likely dropping him a bit plus since he is represented by Scott Boras he is also likely to slip as well over signability concerns.

    No but I follow a ton of minor league baseball, go to games, and have a source who is a scout. Back to Bowden and Buchholz. Both fell in the draft to the Red Sox and we should be happy they did. For Bowden he slipped because scouts went to one of his starts in HS and he was throwing 85 MPH. The reason. The day before he was helping his father with chores around the house which hurt his velocity for that day thus his draft stock slipped. As for Buchholz he slipped to the Sox because other teams had concerns about Buchholz when he stole alot of computers. Teams didn't know if this was an isolated incident or if it were to continue but the Red Sox thought it would not continue and thus landed him.
