The Boston Red Sox have finalized a trade to obtain catcher Doug Mirabelli from the San Diego Padres in exchange for catcher Josh Bard, minor-league pitcher Cla Meredith and $100,000, ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney is reporting. So no PTNL is in the deal

Saw boston.com has the PTNL later. Likely Rudy Seanez I bet. He cannot be traded until a certain date and that is the reason cash is likely included in the deal because both Bard and Meredith make minimum salary and it doesn't make sense we are giving them cash unless Seanez is going back there.

a little too early for that and if they did need one they would promote pedroia before trading for one. -
One of the things people have to consider is that one of the reasons they might not have taken a DB or a LB is that they might be waiting until the June 1st cutdown when teams dump players then for salary reasons plus the Pats might be bringing back Ty Law.

Trouble is it won't take just Lester and Pedroia and thats why Theo would never do that. He didn't come back to the Sox in order to rip his farm system apart.

RB's can be had anywhere in the draft....Hence Curtis Martin (3rd round) and Terrell Davis (6th round). Dillon might not run for 1600 yds anymore but in day and age its not very hard to top 1000 yards in a season. 1000 yds in not an accomplishment anymore as so many guys do it. Dillon still gained over 700 yds last year and he was hurt. Imagine maybe if he was healthy. He might have lost a step but enough where he is not going to top 1000 yards in a season. That said now that the 2 picks have been made they need to focus on the defense in rounds 3-5.

Looks like with both the Seahawks and Giants on the clock both with pass on Lendale White and he should slip out of the first round. He may fall to the Jets in the 2nd round.

The Pats need a RB but I would not have selected one this high when there was more of a need at Linebacker and DB or even WR.

I would be pretty shocked if Theo sold the farm for Willis because frankly Willis is not a better pitcher than Beckett but the Marlins are holding a high price for him which would be too steep in my opinion.
