Well if you want to stick to hard evidence, all we know is that Palmeiro recently took steroids. There is no proof he used them in the past. Common sense says he did but common sense says Macguire, Sosa and Bonds did too. See the problem?

It's complicated. I want to say, "yes," but then what do you do about MaGuire, Sosa, Bonds and Giambi? We all know damn well that they did it too. Do you wipe out their records based on suspicion? If you don't, it doesn't seem fair to Palmiero. Sure, he's the one who got caught but I don't think that's the point. We know the others are just as guilty.

The White Sox lost again. If the Red Sox hold on, they'll close to within three and a half of the best record in the American League.

Shouldn't the Chicago Cubs benefit from the present system? Chicago is the 3rd largest city in America and their fans are easily as hard core as we are. Yet their team is rarely even a serious threat to make the playoffs.
