  1. He is the number 5 guy now, is he not?
  2. Paul Konerko has had a great career.
  3. The Red Sox really need this win tonight... When you get 7 spectacular innings from your number 5 guy, you have to win. Especially when ground needs to be made up.
  4. What a great outting from cook tonight
  5. Where was that first pitch??
  6. Any chance Youk becomes the Yankees DH next year? Edit- Probably not with Jeter and Arod still in the lineup needing days off in the field.
  7. Youk becoming a Red Sox killer.
  8. It happens... Especially with Ells and Crawford still trying to find their timing.
  9. Well this has been a flat game by the offense... Good thing Cook is spinning a dandy.
  10. Mike Aviles better start looking over his shoulder, it could soon be Pedro time in Boston once again!
  11. Man we have had some hard hits tonight and nothing to show for it.
  12. He hadn't fallen off a cliff as much as he never had that much of a chance this season... 165 off and on plate appearances is not enough to judge whether or not a player has fallen off a cliff. I think the toxic clubhouse is media nonsense, I don't believe there is too much too that. If the Red Sox had kept Youk in the lineup, do you honestly believe the record would be much better? I don't... I think they would be about .500, maybe better if Youk picked it up. Not having Youk or Middlebooks for that Yankees series really hurt the team. Middlebrooks has missed a bunch of time since the deal, and Youk has played everyday and played well. (not saying he would have here, but it is a possibility.) So the last thing I will say about this is that had the Red Sox given Youk another full time chance, they would probably be in a similar position and they might be able to have dealt him for a better package. Just my opinion... it's impossible to say what would have happened, but to discount this possibility is foolish.
  13. Aaron cook and Fraklin Morales are turning into a pretty good 4-5 combo... Hopefully Lester and Beckett can get their s*** together. I think Buchholz has been fine since the middle of may, it was too bad he had a freak illness that derailed him a little bit.
  14. Probably, but honestly it may have been the best move for the team to have sent Middlebrooks back to Triple A (I'm going to get crushed for saying that) and let Youk try to find his swing without the pressure of the kid sitting on the bench... It might have back fired, but more than likely Youk would have started to hit like he his now, and they would have gotten a nice package back for him.
  15. Such a breath of fresh air to see the lineup the way it was intended... Hopefully Pedroia can come back and be himself on thursday... This team is going to start wrecking pitchers. The Red Sox, if the pitching can stabilize and Bard and Baliey can come back successfully, will be a major force in the AL.
  16. Youk is still a .900 OPS player... Shame on the Red Sox for not trying everything possible to get him going and increase his value before the trading deadline.
  17. I would go: Ellsbury L Crawford L Middlebrooks R Ortiz L Ross R Gonzo L Salty S Aviles R Ciriaco R When Pedroia comes back Ellsbury L Pedroia R Crawford L Ortiz L Middlebrooks R Gonzo L Ross R Salty S Aviles R
  18. Do you think I just pulled those numbers out of my ass? Check out pitch Fx. Four season fastball: 30 % Sinker: 29 % Cutter: 12% http://www.fangraphs.com/pitchfx.aspx?playerid=4930&position=P He started throwing his sinker in 2010. I don't consider a sinker to be in the same class as a fastball.
