  1. They won't bring him up because if he fails on the big stage down the stretch their afraid that might really hurt him in the future, and lets be real sox fans are not forgiving or rational. Usually.
  2. My favorite question is who plays first for the sox next year, this has probably been talked about to death though, if so just point me to a link i dont even know who the candidates are, but i know konerko has said he doesn't like Boston, and who else is out there?
  3. I cried when boone hit the homerun, that was the toughest loss in my life by a long shot. Even my losses on my baseball teams haven't hurt that much, that one stayed with me for awhile. Oh man, that was hard. I was pretty pissed when we went down 3-o I remember when we lost that first game that schilling pitched and they jumped all over us early, I was pretty mad about that. I hate it when the yanks strike first. I prefer holding them down to chasing them by a mile.
  4. Hanley Ramierez is supposed to develop power, but who knows with that stuff.
  5. Jeez, I didn't see there was another page to this, but now that I do, fairweather fans are gonna happen, there just happens to be like 400 million of them in boston. Its annoying, yeah, the last forum i registered at was full of them, threads everywhere like "OMG FIRE EDGAH HES ONLY HITTING .290 OMG" and "OMG I WANT PEDRO BACK BECAUSE CLEMENT HASNT THROWN A PERFECT GAME YET" " I MISS D-LOWE SCHILLING IS POOP" I quit when there was a schilling bashing thread and i got mad and told them all off, because the guy did jeopardize his career (and millions of millions of dollars that he could have had if he lasted until free agency again which he could have) so we could have a world series victory. I mean he could have shut himself down and been ok, but he didnt do that, hes officially the man and should never have to buy a drink in this town again.... ok rant over sorry about all that.
  6. I don't think the orioles will compete next year, no. The devil rays are two or three years away, but they will be a wild card contender in the future yeah. The Jays though, the Jays worry me. That'd be awesome though I would love a close three team race.
  7. I have this keeper league going that I started with some of my friends last season, we are going into our second season and are looking for someone to make an expansion team, and maybe someone to take over another team because one of our owners dropped out. We have a forum that we keep things up to date in over the offseason. If you'd like to join it, let me know cause i'd love to have 2 or 3 people who know what they're doing. We all pretty much know what we're doing and i guess you could say its a pretty competitive league. If you were an expansion team though, you would be at a disadvantage for at least the first season. If you're interested let me know and I'll give you the information for our other forum. I don't wanna be a jerk and just put it here cause i'm not advertising and i dont mean to, but if you're interested I'll give you our link, all our rosters are on the boards for you to see.
  8. Its beaten to death by the media like a popular song on the radio, but is it dead? Of course not, and of course people in other regions will enjoy their rivalries better, because its theirs, but everyone can marvel at the red sox yanks rivalrie because even though it is not the "best" to everybody, cause everyone likes their home team's rivalries the most, it is and will continue to be the most storied rivalry in all of sports. So to say its dead just because lately its been beaten to death, is ignorant, because of course the media is gonna kill this thing, two baseball towns, and 2 back to back collisions in the ALCS and a race for the division title this year. Of course its gonna get alittle worn. Whatever, it will probably be a big deal again in a year or two. Bigger then ever no that it isn't so one sided.
  9. Pennington also needs to adjust to a new offense, but that sort of thing is overrated. This is going to turn into a football thread fast, i hope nobody minds.
  10. Money?
  11. P.S. I actually wouldnt mind them trading manny in the offseason if A. They keep all their prospects, because we should not have to give up top tier farmhands so we can dump a guy who is a perennial .300 30+ 100+ guy, no way. B. We get the money to sign A.J. Burnett and do it promptly, and C. Get a couple guys to push the farm system over the top like lastings milledge or somebody to go along with a solid everyday guy.
  12. you do know that one home run every 19 games isnt a ratio that really should be labelled slump. I think, career, manny hits one homerun every 15 games. If anyone has the bill james handbook they can check me on that, im to lazy to go check, but i think thats right. One in 19 games really isnt very bad at all. No big deal.
  13. Errors are an overrated stat. He makes a ton of "range errors" going for balls a lot of other short stops would give up on. I've seen him make a lot fof those. He also is playing in parks hes never played in before, so hes not used to it. I know that when you play at different fields it takes time to get used to it and at the major league level it probably takes some time as well. When cabrera first came over last season, he wasn't the best either, remember how he kicked the ball away that lost us that first game he played in? He made a lot of errors like that but picked it up pretty quick. Renteria will pick it up, he'll get used to AL ball parks and you'll realize that this guy makes plays most guys don't. He gets to balls that most guys don't, makes throws that most guys can't, he's solid. He's a beast.
  14. I agree too. Empire i just want you to know that your post right there made me happy inside. That was clutch, you should be an MVP of something for that. I thought i was the only one who saw that. You're the man.
  15. oh, i wasnt saying that vlad had a chance this year, i was just saying that he probably wasnt top candidate last year going into september
  16. wait who missed a month this season?
  17. before september, i bet last year it was like 8 sheff 6 manny and 1 ortiz, vlad was probably out of the picture.
  18. Quote me on that first part buddy. I never said if the yanks dont make the playoff arod probably wont get it. Dont make things up.
  19. He might, he might not, september matters a lot, last i checked its actually september 2nd. I truly don't care who wins MVP. Whoever wins it just about always deserves it.
  20. No, you just can't read. Where your team finishes has something to do with it, but not everything. Every sports writer votes based on different things. Some might like clutch, some might like HR some might like the RBI. Its anybodys game right now. Having this discussion at the begining of september is pointless.
  21. I'm not saying it all depends on where your team finishes, but i think it comes in to mind, and every writer casts their vote based on different opinions of what makes an MVP. The writers aren't told by anybody what to vote on. Why not Tejada? Vlad was out of the picture at the time last year, anyone can surge in september and get it, if Ortiz snoozes this month, hes not gonna win it, same for A-rod. Its crunch time, it all depends on how you do in crunch time.
  22. Wait, time out, who says sports writers don't vote based on clutchness? Thats completely untrue, and yeah I think where your team finishes definetly has something to do with it also.
  23. Of course a DH can win it, its not defense that wins you MVP's and everyone knows it. He puts a jolt in the sox lineup and hes got the numbers to be an MVP. Sure, A-rod is having an awesome year, and Ortiz isn't a shoo in, but I like Ortiz's chances over A-rods at this point. Septembers are when MVP's are won and lost so who knows, last year it was up in the air between manny and sheff at this time, and vlad ended up hitting .370 with like 8 homers carrying his team to a division crown, so he stole it. Anything can happen, hell, Tejada could end up winning if he has a huge september, who knows.
  24. Yeah as a pitcher, i gotta say its not cool to have anything hit back at you and you never wish it on anyone. Hope hes alright and has the stones to get right back out and face live hitting again
  25. Millar sucks, 2 home runs doesn't change it, the guy blows. I wanna throw up when i see his batting stance.
