I dont see why everyone shits on Juan Pierre so much anyway. yea, he doesnt have any power whatsoever but its not as if they play in a hitter's ballpark where everyone else clubs them out anyway. he has tremendous base-stealing ability and isnt a terrible hitter.
clearly, Coletti feels he doesnt want 6 outfielders. you can't run a team by grabbing players for the sole purpose of f***ing over a team you're chasing
very funny how in the span of about a week following the deal, Manny went from saying that he wanted to stay in Boston, to he wants to finish his career in LA to he wants to sign with the Yankees. Next he'll say how much he respects what Minaya does for latin players and he wants to go to the Mets
Schilling, like Manny, has done many great things in a Red Sox uniform, and has received all due praise. Likewise, he has said, or done, maybe stupid things and deserves appropriate criticism.
I fear the repercussions of moving Bowden along too fast. he's been very up and down in his short stint in Triple A so far and I wouldnt move him until he starts to develop some consistency
"Today was actually a confidence booster; I threw quality pitches and got hit. … But I feel like I’m getting better and better." -- 8.10.08, Clay Buchholz
sounds like he might be suffering from a bit of Ian Kennedyitis
agreed, most young pitchers experience a serious learning curve at the major league level, no matter how hyped of a prospect they are (see: Phil Hughes, Homer Bailey, etc). Buchholz won't learn anything anymore in Triple A, he just needs time to figure out the major leagues
