  1. That will go over well. His whole world came crashing down by trading away his pacifier, I am sure moving him down in the order wont alienate him even further from the FO and the rest of the club.
  2. Yeah youre right what was I thinking....Nick Green and Julio Lugo make so much more sense.....2 s***** players starting at SS for one of the best baseball teams in the league. One of which has never done anything and now hes 30 and overperforming b/c as history shows, hes a terrible terrible major league baseball player. Lugo, booting balls all over the field, throwing balls into the stands and his vicious infield grass power make so much more sense. If all three cant hit, why not take the best one in the field?
  3. GOM, I think you were missing the point. Papelbon would care, because like it was stated by yourself....he will hit the FA market. Papelbon would be excited Rivera is hurt because many of us see him signing with the Yankees since he believes his value is mush higher than the Redsox see it, plus the fact we already have more than 1 person capable of stepping in to that closer role once he leaves. Papelbon will look for a huge deal, and the Yankees, like they always do....will throw wads and wads of cash at him. There is a reason why he is one of the only homegrown players not extended, and little effort made at extending........we have guys ready to step in for him, we dont believe hes worth what he thinks hes worth, and he is just one fastball away from blowing out his shoulder, which was never surgically repaired, and nobody really knows whats going on inside of it.
  4. Not Michael Young, but Texas does has another guy who is more appealing, who I wish the Sox took a stab at. Omar Vizquel. Look, when all things are said and done....Green, Lugo and Vizquel are all poor offensive players (at this point for Vizquel, who was pretty solid offensive SS years back), so you look at perhaps the most important aspect of the position, defense.....and even 42 years old, Omar is heads and feet above the rest. Plus, you play him in a platoon with one of the other guys so you are not relying on a 42 year old to play SS everyday.
  5. Jack Wilson + Nick Green >>>>> Julio Lugo + Nick Green.
  6. Get the hitter, and it doesnt matter.
  7. Well, yeah....your point makes total sense. Im sure Carter couldnt hit.190 with zero power........oh wait, No I think Carter could do just as well being a black hole in the middle of the lineup which Ortiz has occupied all year long. Anything more than a black hole would be better than Ortiz at this point.
  8. Anyone opposed to Carter getting more AB's while Ortiz tries to figure things out? Hes looking more and more like toast each day. He really has been pretty brutal. Could Carter be this bad?
  9. I wouldnt mind Lugo on that list too, Ive never liked him.
  10. Well, looks like we know who's spot in the rotation Smoltz takes.
  11. No, not really....I dont dislike him at all....I just wanted Bard and Kotarras's small sample size is in my favor right now, although Bards numbers are as similarly bad haha.
  12. Dusty Brown......who you seem to love for whatever reason: .213 AVG.--0 HR--4 RBI--13K in 47AB's....in AAA. George Kottaras....who you also seemed to love in previous posts on this forum: .143 AVG.--0HR--1 RBI--4K in 14AB's--.278 OB%--.214 SLG% In fairness, he has done a very good job with Wakefield. When its all said and done, Id rather have Bard.
  13. So far, Jonathan Papelbon has gotten the job done for the Red Sox, but The Boston Globe's Amalie Benjamin wonders if something is wrong with the Sox closer because he's not getting as many batters to swing and miss this season. Is it a concern? "After three consecutive seasons in which Papelbon has thrown between 15 and 15.6 pitches per inning, he's at 20.9 this year," Benjamin writes, adding, "Batters have swung at 85 of Papelbon's pitches this season, and missed 18 times for a 21.2 rate. That leaves him tied with Manny Delcarmen for 29th in baseball." Papelbon says he's changed his delivery and may be working out the kinks. Manager Terry Francona says Papelbon's location so far is not up to par. Whatever it is, there's no doubt that Papelbon has been having to work a lot harder to close games out. --Jeff Bradley ^ This was the ESPN insider article. -SCM
  14. I have insider, hold on...Ill copy and paste it, give me a sec.
  15. Yeah, I do.......great, they got the win, but things were a pitch away from getting ugly, with nobody warm.
  16. Warm someone else up please.....Christ.
  17. Daniel Bard please!
  18. Dont get it.....someone should be warming up. Tying run on....theyve killed 3 balls up the middle. Get someone up.
