  1. Haren has made Millar look foolish tonight. I know that's no great feat, but I thought I'd just mention it.
  2. Holy f***ing Cora!
  3. Kinda ironic coming from the hyperbole monitor.
  4. When Arroyo decides it's time to display some suckitude, he doesn't hold anything back. Perfect for 4-innings, then back-to-back walks to start off the 5th.
  5. His forward progress was across the line, but when he got hit, he got hammered back into the endzone.
  6. Ortiz: .298/43/131 Rice's numbers, minus about .015 BA, are the better estimate.
  7. BC gives up a pick-6 on the first offensive series. 7-0 'Noles, 7 seconds into the game.
  8. We'll need more pitching like this if the 'O' is still napping.
  9. Maybe I was prematurely optimistic about the offense.
  10. Make that 5-0, runner on 2nd, 2-out.
  11. Speaking of big innings, 4-0 Tribe with 1-out, runners on the corners.
  12. That had big inning written all over it. One is better than none though.
  13. Crisp 2-run job in the bottom of the 1st in Cleveland. 2-0 Tribe. Peralta double, Hafner up, no outs. ChiSox lost today, so a Cleveland win puts them 3.5 out. They were 15 down on August 1.
  14. This looks a little familiar. You know, offense.
  15. 13 pitch 1-2-3 start for Bronson (Brandon if McCarver is watching)
  16. Babe Ruth Ty Cobb Ted Williams - 2 Rogers Hornsby - 2 Hank Aaron Dan Brouthers Lou Gehrig Jimme Foxx Johnny Mize Nap Lajoie Chuck Klein Ed Delahanty Mickey Mantle Joe Dimaggio Sam Thompson Carl Yastrzemski Frank Robinson Hugh Duffy Paul Hines Joe Medwick Andres Galarraga Heinie Zimmerman Manny Ramirez The players in bold won natural Triple Crowns. link
  17. I can't watch because of the Fox blackout. So, it's good gloves huh? I was wondering how Chacon managed to allow just 3 hits on 21 balls in play, when his BABIP is .283.
  18. Sorry about the assumption with your username. I'm willing to bet I'm not the first though. EDIT: sarasox as in Sarasota 'Sox?
  19. Pick-6 for MSU to start the 2nd half, 31-17 Spartans. It seems to me, based on my recollections, that the lower rated team in this series has come up big several times.
  20. No, I certainly don't think the Sox would blow a 15 game lead, and I really like our chances to win the division. I was responding to all the posters that jump on sarasoxfan every time she pisses in their cornflakes with a dose of reality (her points about the team aren't that far off the mark in the first post). And while I don't share her pessimism, I hate it when people are attacked for not wearing rose colored glasses. EDIT: The "Free Fall" title of the thread isn't totally illegitimate. Whether you fall off a chair (4 games) or fall off your house (15 games), you are still falling. Comparing us to the White Sox was MCH's move, and I just showed that if you look at more than the magnitude of the fall, then the two situations aren't totally dissimilar. The next few days matter a lot. If the cold bats and shoddy defense continue, then this thread will gain some momentum. If they snap out of it, then the thread will become a memory.
  21. I never said you were. I meant what I said, I hope we don't need 5 unearned runs today to win. What I mean by that is that I want the bats to wake up. Lighten up riverside, I'm not attacking you.
  22. I hope we don't need to bank on 5 unearned runs to win today.
  23. A game-winning RBI can come in any inning of the ballgame. That is why they tend to favor the RISP and Close-and-Late splits to determine how "clutch" a player performs.
