  1. I thought he came up on Sept. 1. My bad. Either way, you can't use his spot for a pitcher. Hansen and Papelbon will only be eligible via Mantei and Miller's spots.
  2. ^^^This guy showed up tonight of all nights. Anyone surprised?
  3. The 60-day DL replacement rule mandates that pitchers may only replace pitchers, fielders for fielders. Youk wasn't up before Sept. 1.
  4. Papelbon came back up after the Aug. 31 deadline, but either him or Hansen could be eligible with Mantei's (on 60-day DL) spot. Both could be eligible if Miller gets upgraded from the 15-day to the 60-day. With the injury to Youkilis, they wanted another IF and some speed on the bench. It's not a bad move IMO. The Sox have a big operating budget like the Yankees, so arbitration time is the least of their worries in a pennant race.
  5. Play Hanley tomorrow. Give E5 another day off.
  6. Hansen is impressive. I can see him closing games as soon as the all-star break next season. I'd love to see Hanley get a start during this series. Tomorrow night is the perfect opportunity IMO. Graffanino is banged up and a righty is on the hill, so you can start Cora at 2nd and give E5 another night off. Hell, if Hanley makes 2 errors and goes 0-5, would it be any different than what we are getting now?
  7. I just hope that Tito doesn't give Hansen the same treatment MDC got after working a perfect debut inning at the Trop. The next time he pitched he needed a walker to get to the mound.
  8. In Edgar's defense, that run would have scored even if he fielded it cleanly. I still question using Bradford against Crawford. Bradford doesn't get lefties out, and you can't let Crawford on in a close game. He's just too damn fast. Myers was available. More importantly, bad defense earlier in the game is what lost the game tonight. Three runs, two after the 2nd out in the 3rd when Wells didn't cover, and one that Damon dropped, should not have been on the board tonight. They seem mentally detached from the game right now.
  9. The man is a machine. You can't pitch to him close-and-late.
  10. Just think, only 3 more years at $10 million a year for that sack of s***.
  11. He'd see a lot more pitches to hit with Papi behind him than with Garrett Andersen.
  12. Tito concedes by leaving Bradford in against a lefty. Who gets on, and, I might add, has speed, which leads to the leadoff runner on 2nd.
  13. I'm speechless. I am without speech.
  14. But that is the perfect type of grounder to do it on.
  15. It will be tough to double up Lugo.
  16. If Wells stops day dreaming about doughnuts and realizes the pitcher needs to cover on balls to the right, then we are ahead 6-5 (6-4 with the Damon miscue). That is why I don't think they are doing anything other than golfing in October. Cold bats happen. Pitchers get shelled sometimes. But there is no excuse for shoddy defense in September.
  17. No Millar please. You can't be serious.
  18. Colome throws a little smoke too.....wild as hell, but when it's good, it's real good.
  19. Gotta move the lumber there Manny.
  20. *sniff* *sniff* I smell longball.
  21. I find everything in order here. Don't let Soxfan #1 find this question though.
  22. Thank god Damon has some wheels. EDIT: And f*** YOU Gonzalez. 4 errors in the last 3 Yankee series. Where's the love?
