  1. great job on those!
  2. great news!
  3. isn't it all because of his rough divorce? that's what everyone keeps saying.
  4. well Curt spoke out about it now too on the radio this morning. so it's not just Millar or the Captain anymore.
  5. exactly. boo people for having a bad attitude. or being rude. or slapping the ball out of someone's glove. don't boo them if they're having a bad time AB. it won't help them.
  6. welcome to the boards!
  7. that's what I mean. booing someone does not make them produce. unless it's like with the Yankees booing Pedro last year and he produced just to spite them. it's different when your own fans are booing you. haha I don't expect much from Bellhorn, though. his career average isn't through the roof and he doesn't make a whole lot of money. it's different with a guy like Edgar. he came with a load of expectations. I do think we should be encouraging the guy instead of kicking him when he is down just 'cause we're mad about his performance. I'm not exactly thrilled with Manny's performance, etc. but there's no need to be mean to them especially when Edgar seriously looks like he's gonna have a mental breakdown any day now. just my opinion though.
  8. I was against signing Edgar but I do think that we should support him and not kick him when he's down. I'd say the same about any of the other players, including Bellhorn. theyir hitting is not exactly up to par, but it will get up there and they're contributing in other ways. as for booing him, it just doesn't help. the guy already looks like he's gonna throw up when he's AB and looks like he just wants to get out of there as quickly as possible, I don't think this will help in any way. as far as Bellhorn is concerned, yes he does strike out a lot, but those strikeouts might be a double play ball when hit by others and personally I'll take one out over two.
  9. I agree that Edgar will break out of it. but I think all the negative feedback really has an impact and is just gonna make him play worse I think. Millar does talk a lot but it's nice to see someone speak out about it.
  10. Curt is just different. he's way above guys like Clement and Arroyo who are fantastic but Curt is Curt.
  11. yeah you're probably right about that.
  12. awww I want them both back. and Bell too of course. =/
  13. that's so tough. 'cause Mueller is my second favorite but Millar is Millar. I like the whole infield too much to want to see any of them go.
  14. yeah I saw the Tek interview too. poor guy, it must be tough on him I think. Boston fans are harsh as hell.
  15. This is interesting: BOSTON -- Kevin Millar, sore left foot and all, took the occasion following Sunday's game to make a request of the media and Red Sox fans -- go easy on Edgar Renteria. Millar, making a comparison to his famous "Cowboy Up" rally cry of August 2003, felt it time to stand up for the shortstop. Renteria was booed again during the 5-2 win over Atlanta after going 0-for-4, which dropped his average to .239. "Fans have the right to do whatever they want," Millar said. "I'm just saying let's not boo him over salary. They're obviously booing him over performance. They gave him $40 million -- what does that have to do with anything? "The point being, the guy comes out here and works hard, and don't let six weeks shadow eight years of greatness. The guy's a great player. My message for Red Sox fans is, 'Lay off Edgar Renteria, he's going to be fine. The Sox will be OK. We're battling right now. Get on me, I [stink]. I [stink].'" Millar, who is batting only .243 with two homers, said while he took the initiative over the weekend to give Renteria a pep talk, the shortstop did not vent any frustration about the recent booing at Fenway. "I feel it's my right to stand up, because I'm not a very good player, but I bring some intangibles and it's my job to speak about the way I feel about Edgar Renteria," Millar said. "He's my teammate, my family member, and I think he's a great player." Before signing his four-year deal in December, Renteria was a lifetime .289 hitter with 83 homers and 565 RBIs in eight full Major League seasons. :dunno: Personally I think Edgar should be in the 9th spot where he excelled a good amount of his career and Bellhorn should be in the 2nd where he also fared better but what can you do? And I'm starting to feel bad for the guy I guess.
  16. yeah really, let's not. Curt is a force to be reckoned with even when he's not 100%. can't wait to see him back.
  17. I wouldn't be so sure that they're gonna stick with Millar, though.
  18. Edgar is not getting better at all. Clement is amazing.
  19. unless Millar leaves and Mueller stays then Youk can be the 1b. Who says Olerud will be healthy enough for next year at all?
  20. last night was terrible. I did feel bad for him though at the end there. he obviously just snapped, poor guy. I'm sure he's frustrated with his performance or lack thereof.
  21. you're right. I figured it'd be a homerun. terrible game. hopefully we'll win tomorrow!
  22. this game sucks so far except Trot and his amazing defense.
  23. looks like they're gonna play through it according to NESN.
  24. NESN is still on cable so technically paid and UPN you can get in Boston without cable still. but NESN is one of the basic channels, so yeah.
  25. true. I love Widescreen Wednesdays!
