  1. Dwight Gooden ad a better season also, in his second year! Gooden-24-4, 1.53 ERA, like 260 SO Martinez-23-4, 2.07 ERA, 313 SO Ron Guidry had a better season also 25-3, 1.74 ERA, 250 SO Im not even going to get into the 50's and 60's.
  2. Of couse Nolan Ryan is A LOT better than Pedro. Nolan Ryan: no hitters-7 1 hitters-9 2 hitters-23 3 hitters-19 Pedro is one of the best Pitchers of our generation, but certainly not THE best.
  3. Well, I shouldn't say plenty, but there were better seasons.
  4. There are plenty of pitchers that have had better seasons then Pedro.
  5. Especially if Clements ERA was 5.10 in the second half of the season.
  6. The Red Sox could do that every year......but they dont. Baseball is an open market, any team can spend any cost to get anyone the want. Its up to the Owners to decide if they want to make better profit, or win more then anything. Red Sox do have a healthy payroll, its not like you guys are the Marlins w/ a $50m payroll, You guys have all of New England, which is a large area. George spends a lot of money because he desires to win. Henry could do the same, but he chooses that he wants o make more profit, rather then spending the money to make the team better. George spends his own money to make the Yankees a better organisation because he loves them more then anything, he's been like that since the 70's.
  7. Hey yeszir, There are plenty of "annoying" Red Sox fans on Yankee boards also, dont think this web site is the only one. Plus, wouldn't you want some friendly arguments on this site like we have been having?, And not just all Red Sox talk so its just like an information board? Anyway, if you think i should be banned along with other Yankee fans here, then thats your opinion. Im sure there are some Baseball fans here that enjoy talking about Sports best rivalry, with there enemy first-hand, I know i do.
  8. Lets not forget, Kevin Brown is a very dominante pitcher when healthy. Exploding sinker, 92-95 fastball. But, the Yankees are not going to keep Brown after spring training. Unless Brown makes a miraculas recovery and is owning everybody in spring training, He is gone to either the Braves or the Padres(only teams he would waive his no-trade clause to).
  9. Uhh, no, there is no way that we are tied, e will have a better pitching staff this year than the Red Sox 1. Cubs 2. Yankees 3. Red Sox 4. Mets
  10. What makes you think that Jeret Wright will get injured? He passed his 2nd Physical. If anyone is to get injured, it will be Wells. 1. Already has a bad back 2. Constantly Drinking 3. Not in good shape. If you want to talk about re-injury, Its all Schilling. Dont give me that hooblah about Schillings doctor getting fired because of getting a D.U.I. They wouldnt fire him for that after what he did for Schilling's ankle in the post season. They fired him because he f-ed it up, he did something bad to Schilling's ankle afterword. One bad step off the mound ( fielding a bunt, over throwing, etc..) and Schillings ankle will be done for.
  11. I'll give you that, lol
  12. What matters most is what happens the second half of the season correct? Well, Clement's ERA in the second half was 5.10, thats why he lost his rotation spot to Glendan Rusch. While Pavano's ERA was 3.17 in the second half of the season.
  13. Uhh, no they wouldnt. What makes you think Arroyo is better than Lilly? Lilly has more Wins, More SO, More Innings, Gave up less Runs, And he has better stuff.
  14. If it means Lilly in the Rotation Schilling Wells Lilly Clement Wakefield vs Schilling Wells Clement Arroyo Wakefield
  15. Unless Ted Lilly gets traded, he will have a bad year (Reacord wise). Lilly is a guy who can give the Red Sox a Comfortable 3rd starter , have Clement move down a notch, and Arroyo from the Pen. But, if Epstien knew he could get Lilly, you would of heard talks about it already.
  16. Wright is equal to Arroyo. More wins, better ERA, Throws faster, not as wild. Yes, Arroyo did have a nice string of wins comming down the stretch, But his ERA was still nearly 5.00. You are lucky that i am equalizing them.
  17. Hernandez would only start(you wouldnt replace him for Arroyo or Wakefield) Zito(if he goes anywhere) is going to the O's Lilly might be your best shot Burnett is un touchable right now
  18. Johnson>Schilling Mussina>Wells Pavano>Clement Wright=Arroyo Brown
  19. Lets put this thing to rest. They both up-graded there teams in there own ways. Difference is, Pavano had his break out year last year, and can expand from that. Clement has been rocky his whole career. Plus, I dont think Clement is in comparison to Pedro. He wont do a Hell of Job filling in, but he will get the job done.
  20. Yankeesin2010 just got OWNED by Gertie. Not all Yankee fans are like that though Gertie. I actually support my statements with facts and stats.
  21. Fenway might still hurt Clement. He was bad down the stretch and he was leaving fat sinkers over the plate and RH hitters were tee-ing off on him. Wrigley and Fenway both have shallow LF Walls and it would hurt him just as much as it did in Chicago. As for Pavano, Yankee Stadium might hurt Pavano, it might not. If he could get his slider down and in, he would do fine. Dont get me wrong, LH hitters hit like .340 off of him last year. But if he can do what he did to Lefty's, what he did to Righty's, (i think they hit like .250 off him or something) he will do JUST FINE.
  22. Note. I am not comparing Pavano to Koufax Koufax was bad his first 5 seasons with the Dodgers, then he broke out(Mainly due to the changing in Pitching coaches) This was Pavano's break out year, there is only more to come and expand to it. What makes you think that he cant do it again? Mel Stottlemyre was a ground ball specialist in his day, he can teach Pavano. With the Yankees offense, Pavano will have no problem, the only minor problem would be him adjusting to the Bronx, where winning is expected, if he makes a good transition, he will do great.
  23. How is 18-8 3.00 ERA mediocre? 9-13 3.68 ERA is
  24. Im not talking just about this year, im talking about the future as well. Elbow surgery or not, he is a damn good pitcher.
  25. Wtf? Williamson will pitch this year. How can you say that Matt Mantei is better than Scott Williamson, 1999 ROY? Matt Mantei was hurt last year also, what makes you think that he will do so great?
