  1. HOMERUN TROT NIXON!!!
  2. Why do I get the feeling Curt's ankle is going to be worse after tonight's start? He clearly doesn't have the control that he's possessed all season. I've never seen him fall behind so many batters. It does look like he has gotten squeezed on a couple calls. His velocity is also down.
  3. lol He was there last night too with the Rockies mascot...
  4. Yet, another double for Ortiz!
  5. Yes, it's very disgusting. OPS YEAR OPS 1 Barry Bonds 2002 1.381 2 Babe Ruth 1920 1.379 3 Barry Bonds 2001 1.379 4 Babe Ruth 1921 1.359 5 Babe Ruth 1923 1.309 6 Ted Williams 1941 1.287 7 Barry Bonds 2003 1.278 8 Babe Ruth 1927 1.258 9 Ted Williams 1957 1.257 10 Babe Ruth 1926 1.253 I don't know how it lines up like that for me... Make sure you PREVIEW your post before adding the reply, and if the code looks uneven, try and move a couple numbers to the right or left and then PREVIEW again until it lines up the way you want it. Most of the time, I don't have to do that, though.
  6. Yeah, but Bonds is just ridiculous. He's hitting .370 with a share of the league lead in homeruns despite just 135 AB's and has a 1.456 OPS... Year OPS 1992 1.080 1993 1.136 1994 1.073 1995 1.009 1996 1.076 1997 1.031 1998 1.047 1999 1.006 2000 1.127 2001 1.379 2002 1.381 2003 1.278 2004 1.456 Very, very impressive.... but somethin just doesn't look right towards the end of that streak. I don't have much of an opinion on it, but it is a fact that Bonds was already a 3-time MVP winner BEFORE 1994.
  7. Oh how cute, it's been RAINING. Those slippery, wet conditons are just Perfect.
  8. Griffey has said that getting to 500 has been a distraction for the team. Could be right, they've lost 7 of their last 10. Has anyone noticed what a freak Sean Casey has been this season during all this Griffey hysteria?
  9. I hope so... I seem to give Tek a lot more slack than anyone else, just because he's so awesome. However, getting blown away by those 92 mph fastballs last night was UGLY.
  10. The only way we make the postseason without Curt is if the offense duplicates what it accomplished last season, and we know that just isn't going to happen. We can only hope the Pen stays strong with Swilly back now. Foulke is just simply THE MAN... I can't believe there were concerns about him in ST.
  11. Geez, what the heck happened to our supposed best rotation in the majors? Comparing it to Oakland or Chicago at this point would really be laughable. - I'm expecting a whole lot out of Pedro for the remainder of the year. Ever since fixing hix mechanical problem (and we have no right to believe he wasn't telling the truth after how he's performed) he's been awesome and has hit 94 mph multiple times in three consecutive starts. If he keeps doing that and his control improves, he could win 18-20 games and lead the league in ERA again. - Wakefield is solid, but when he doesn't have his stuff, he is terrible. There is no way for him to "battle through it" - he'll either shut them down, or get rocked. - Lowe has shown ability to make big pitches when he needs to in his last couple of starts... baby steps, and maybe he'll be a good pitcher again. - Arroyo... just be better than the average No. 5 starter which I believe he can be. - Kim... Apparently he has an optimistic attitude now and has his velocity back up. I'm expecting that he can comeback and influence the team in a POSITIVE way with quality innings. Curt is obviously a tough guy and the ultimate competitor, but if he needs to shut it down for awhile, by all means DO IT. Rather now than September. Not October... we aren't even sure we'll be there.
  12. I suppose this can be the 'Pedro thread' throughout the year instead of having to start multiple new ones. With that, here's an article from The Globe today: Sounds good to me.
  13. Yeah, yeah... I'll be surprised if Schilling DOESN'T shut it down after this start. Hopefully with Trot back, we'll have a much more potent team that can win with Schilling missing a month or so. Pedro and Lowe need to keep pitching like they have the last couple times out and we'll be ok.
  14. The only good thing I can possibly take from this whole Clemens rahrah is that Yankee fans can no longer tell me the reason he didn't show up in Game 7 against Pedro was because he "is 41 years old." The same guy who is 9-1 with a 2.46 ERA?
  15. There's no excuse for this CRAP... None. How dare you leave that many baserunners on against the worst team in the entire league (Expos not included) with the worst pitching staff who had lost 8 straight games.... wtf?!
  16. This ballpark blows.... .... until the Sox start driving them out of there.
  17. Strike three?! I suppose it's only fair the strike zone is expanded to twice the size it would normally be.
  18. I love pitching duels and hate overly long games. The sooner they get out of this joint, the better. I'm excited about them going to perhaps baseball's most beautiful and scenic ballpark in SBC... as well as seeing Pedro vs. Bonds.
  19. He's faced the Reds and Cubs twice. In the 2nd outing each time, he's allowed 5 or more ER.
  20. lol... you couldn't be anymore CORRECT.
  21. It just seems so strange how they say that Schilling is definitely hurting, and that it could get worse... yet they are going to throw him at a ballpark that he's gotten owned in. That damn Morgan... he never seems to have a clue about anything. 2-4 weeks? Might as well be 2-4 months. Don't ******** with us.
  22. I'm very worried about Schilling tomorrow. Not only is he hurting and risking further injury, but he has gotten smashed at Coors over his career. He is pitching like the Ace of the staff and has up to this point IMO, been the best starter in the American League. He has a great shot winning his first Cy this season... for him to fall out because of injury would just suck. Not to mention the ramification it would have on the Red Sox as a team. On the bright side, I expect an absolutely monsterous series from Manny and Ortiz.
  23. Let the slugfest begin...
