  1. Well I'll be damn... It looks like ESPN is actually going to have a SportsCentury to show about Pedro. They even have his short bio listed among everybody else. Source: Pedro Classic
  2. The only time Clemens ever showed up to face Pedro in a head-to-head match-up with the exception of his Quality start last October was the game from May of 2000 that will be on Classic Wednesday. They both pitched 8 scoreless innings before Nixon hit a 2-run bomb off Clemens in the ninth. Pedro came out in the bottom half and shut the door to put the Sox in 1st place.
  3. What a joke if this guy doesn't get the All-Star nod. It would suck, but would really make the All-Star Game more laughable than it already is. Yeah, we'll pick a player from each team so that they are all represented, but leave off the guy who leads the league in RBI, Doubles and Extra-base hits.
  4. Funny that the 3 people who voted Clemens have no explanation...
  5. I'd say you're wrong. Good Outings 04/04: 6.0 IP, 2 ER 04/10: 7.2 IP, 1 ER 04/20: 7.0 IP, 1 ER 04/25: 7.0 IP, 0 ER 05/06: 7.0 IP, 2 ER 05/11: 7.0 IP, 2 ER 05/16: 7.0 IP, 3 ER 05/22: 6.0 IP, 2 ER 06/08: 8.0 IP, 0 ER 06/13: 7.0 IP, 1 ER 06/25: 7.0 IP, 1 ER Bad Outings 04/15: 5.0 IP, 7 ER 05/01: 4.0 IP, 6 ER 06/02: 5.0 IP, 7 ER So-So Outings 05/28: 7.0 IP, 4 ER 06/19: 6.0 IP, 4 ER Pedro has been good enough to win in 13 of his 16 outings this season. How does that make him "more bad than good" ? What you need to do is quit comparing him to the "Old Pedro" because you obviously know nothing of that pitcher to make such a comparison. Don't feel bad though, 99% of baseball fans don't even realize that at his peak he was more dominant than any other pitcher in the last century. All Pedro has to do is have a 1-2-3 inning in the 1st and he'll have many more of the 7 IP, 1 ER outings that we all know and love. BTW, the old Pedro will be on ESPN Classic Wednesday afternoon outdueling Roger Clemens and throwing 97 mph on his 128th pitch of the game to complete a 2-0 shutout that took place in 2000.
  6. I'm getting sick of losing whenever the Yankees do, which is very rare these days. The only way to gain any ground is to beat them head to head obviously, and we know we aren't going to dominate as we did in April.
  7. Schilling can reach 97 whenever he wants to. Ok, maybe he has to reach back just a little these days, but I remember when he was with Arizona in 2001-2002, he would hit 98 on the gun several times in an outing. After his injuries last season and just getting older, he's taking it a lot easier and still winning. I think he'd rather be around for the duration of his contract with the Red Sox rather than go in for reconstructive surgery again as he did in Philly. Hoss hasn't had three 300+ strikeout seasons by throwing 88.
  8. and this is his slowest yet. I don't recall him ever having a 3.91 ERA this late in June. 2002 may have been the only other year, and he went on like a 35+ scoreless inning streak to get it down. It is going to be difficult to even get it below 3 by the end of the year.
  9. It's because Pedro has been inconsistent. If he is the pitcher he's been the last 7 years, no way we play .500 ball since May... especially with an Ace like Schilling also on the staff. Tim Wakefield has just been flat out crappy this month.
  10. Watching the Sox these days just isn't fun... and I've been making some rather ignorant and careless posts lately because of it. They seem so uninspired... I now prepare myself for another heart attack 1st inning by Pedro tomorrow night.
  11. lol@"Doctor Morgan"... what a quack. Reese is probably out until September. What the hell is it with these team doctors that they feel the need to just flat out LIE to our faces. Look at what has happened in Chicago, Mark Prior was supposed to be out for FIVE days. They just kept stretching it and stretching it until they finally admitted that he'd be out until JUNE! Kerry Wood's injury that he suffered in early May was deemed by the team to be "nothing too serious" and was expected back in "two weeks" - Now they "concede" he likely won't return until after the All-Star Break. That is B.S., they cannot be serious with these timetables, and if they really believe what they are telling to the fans and media, they can't tell a shoulder from a f***ing foot.
  12. I'm not ready for Tampa Bay to be a good team...
  13. Edited: I actually had the good sense to look at his game log this season, and feel much better about things now.
  14. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PITCH COUNTS, SCHMIDT COUNTS.... LET HIM "EARN" HIS MONEY.
  15. Yes, but Florida isn't making the postseason this year. Like I've thought from Opening Day, they don't have the same team they did last season and the Phillies will overcome them. The Cubs will win the Central without question, and I'm *hoping* both San Francisco and Los Angeles can get playoff berths, just because I think it'd be interesting and good for baseball if they both got into the postseason and possibly met in the NLCS, with the Sox/Yanks back in the ALCS. I'd rather have that going on than the little Cubbies winning anything although I honestly don't see L.A. having enough firepower in their rotation or lineup; if they do manage to get a lead, it is OVER with Mota and Gagne. San Fran on the otherhand, has the best pitcher... and hitter in the game.
  16. Whenever Bronson pitches great, he always seems to get a raw deal.
  17. Pretty cool that he did it on Father's Day with Sr. there. Congrats, Griff!
  18. I just had a feeling Schmidt was going to completely dominate, and as much as it suck seeing the Sox lose, I have to admit that after we got screwed on that call and the Giants hit the grand slam, I WANTED him to finish the shutout. It's great to see CG shutouts. I can respect that. It doesn't hurt that Schmidt is one of my favorite pitchers in baseball.

  21. God damn I wish Orsillo would quit talking about pitch count for once in his broadcast career... it gets ANNOYING. Especially when Pedro starts, I don't want to know how many pitches he has through 3 or anything irrelevant like that because then I have to start thinking about how much longer he'll be in, how many innings he'll be able to pitch and all that nonsense. That whole 105 limit is horseshit anyway. Go back to Felipe, Pedro.
  22. Perzynski is such a moron. First he catches a pitch he believes is a strike and gets up and starts back to the dugout before the ump even calls it a strike, and then today Schmidt strikes out Arroyo and the dumbass doesn't even tag him or throw to 1st.
  23. Beckett has good stuff, but he dominated on 3 days rest without having to even hit the minimum of 162 IP for a starter during the season. Watch in October this season, Mark Prior will be fresh and in mid-season form, absolutely DOMINATING. Same for Kerry Wood.
  24. Schmidt throwing a no-hitter through 5... lol
