I don't understand him. WHY, PEDRO?! WHY DO YOU GIVE UP LEADS AT WILL?! Pedro hadn't had his stuff popping like that in the 1st two innings all year... he's going to end up hardly even lowering his ERA after this game. That is assuming he isn't throwing up batting practice.

They've all been extremely dissapointing IMO... Pedro at 3.74 in July? That is far from the 2.22 ERA pitcher he was last year that should've won 18+ games if there was any justice in the world. Derek Lowe just sucks. Nomar is another decliner and his attitude is unbelievably s*****. Varitek, as much as I love him, just can't stop getting blown away by fastballs that don't even reach 90 mph. I understand he has an obligation to worry about working with his pitchers, but he's been as bad as anybody and doesn't receive nearly the amount of s*** because he is a class act and very well liked. That doesn't change the fact is BA will be dipping into the .260's soon. However, he's also the only one of the four that hasn't bitched about his contract this year. Pedro wanted a deal by Opening Day? Lowe wants 10 million? Nomar turned down 60 for 4 years? They all look really stupid right now.

We'll after going 0 for 8, Manny hit two bombs in the third game of the Yankee series and gave us a 3-2 lead with an RBI in last night's game. He's a legitimate MVP candidate. Curt is so damn obssessive about pitching complete games.. we'll here's his chance. All our decent guys are tanked and we'll lose with the fresh ones (See: A-Mart last night). Foulke doesn't blow saves like that if he isn't drained. Timlin has been used is about every game this week, Embree can't ever been trusted to do anything but throw 90 mph down the middle, although he was good last night. To make a long, bitchy post short, this is the right time for a CG from Curt. He can win with the pathetic run support he'll most likely get.

If the Sox can't win tonight it might be time for Russian roulette.

I think all four of the FA's are on the decline... but Nomar and Pedro are mainly victims of their own previous success.

Yeah, I'm sorry for being so sarcastic. I just saw that and jumped all over it. However, I'd have to say that these days when Pedro takes the mound, I'm more nervous than anything. Sometimes, I'm just plain SCARED. That isn't right... and is sure a sign of the times. I used to watch a Pedro game and it looked like every pitch he threw was unhittable... Now, it looks like every pitch he throws is more than hittable. All the homeruns have shaken me up like mother... I think I've now got a Phobia of the 1st inning in Pedro outings. It's not even like he's been nearly that bad: 8-3 with a 3.73 ERA and 97 K's is a pretty good pitcher. It's just startling how much lack of control he has at times. He has hung so many breaking balls this year it's just scary... even in the Philly game he got lucky with a couple of those. Remy even touched on it. When it's all over, I think Pedro will succeed in getting his ERA below 3 for an 8th consecutive year and finish up with a very similar season to 1998, which would be a 2.89 ERA and 1.10 WHIP. He's 3.73 and 1.16 right now.

Man, I wish I didn't have such a god awful feeling about this series. Ugh, it's nauseating. Lowe has been better, but had a so-so outing last time out... Wakefield just isn't getting it done. I don't feel confident that the Red Sox will win ANY of these games. I just don't. I'm not confident in any starter right now other than Schilling... Pedro is going up against some nobody. Last time that happened, he allowed 4 runs in the 1st inning and the kid shut our offense completely down with an 89 mph fastball.
