  1. Yeah, I hated seeing Tolle come out for the 6th, before any of this happened. And I hate having been right. Looks like we're going to need another green jerseys walk-off.
  2. Yeah, like I said in the game thread, the Sox are being hyper aggressive about maximizing talent in the dugout. Finding a way to deep-six Yoshida was my next thought too. I kind of like the guy and his style, and that 9th inning HR in Yankee Stadium will live forever in Sox lore, but he is not 2025 Red Sox material.
  3. Wow! I thought this was a joke at first. I'm honestly surprised. Not necessarily disappointed, but surprised. The Sox are being super-aggressive about putting the most possible talent in their dugout this year, and Buehler didn't fit that mold this year. Still.... surprised.
  4. Cedanne's post-game interview was hilarious. He gets asked the standard question: "What was your approach in that situation?" The textbook answer is, "I was just trying to stay patient, maybe see something to drive..." Cedanne instead says, "I was going deep." 😛
  5. Gee, I'll just take the cash value. Nothing personal... 😄
  6. Is there any theoretical limit? Couldn't batter after batter after batter strike out on wild pitches / passed balls and make it safely to first? Not going to happen in real life, of course, but...
  7. Sorry, just to be clear (which I wasn’t), I'm not saying we don't need starting pitching. Of course we do. I'm just objecting to the "we need to find a #2" language. As if we don't have a solid option after Crochet.
  8. I'm not sure why we're talking as if we still need to find a #2 to go with Crochet. We already have that guy: Brayan Bello, who currently has the 15th best ERA in the majors by a qualified starter. Can Tolle be another #2? Let's hope so.
  9. Gracious, do I love having Anthony leading off. How about the 114 mph single in his first at-bat?
  10. Pretty good looking lineup, though I wonder why not Duran 3 and Story 4 given Duran's recent production out of the 3-hole and Cora's fetish for LRLRLRLRL. Whatever, go fight win. I usually don't like commenting on people's appearance, so it's with some slight discomfort that I note that May looks like, uh, a member of the criminal class in his official team picture.
  11. Not even Burnes can win wearing that fugly uniform.
  12. Totally agreed, dgalehouse. As soon as he said that, I said, "I'd rather Judge hit a 550' home run than walk right now."
  13. Cedanne is unbeatable right now. What a stud.
  14. Two moments I especially liked in last night's game: 1) Zack Kelly of course did an amazing job. But that 3-2 pitch to Torres for the first out was bonkers. Torres has got to be looking fastball all the way, and Kelly/Wong dial up a sweeper way the heck out of the zone to punch his ticket. That took some balls. 2) Wong has played a bit like 2004 postseason Johnny Damon this year: no smiles until the game is won, and probably not then either. Stoic. So to see him fired up after his big triple was really exciting. Loved that moment.
  15. I'm just "watching" on Gameday (animated boxscore, pretty much), but it looks like Ref and Cooper went down to not-so-fast fastballs down the chute. That's disappointing. EDIT: Never mind, those fastballs had some gas.
  16. Pitching around Wong probably a good idea at this point.
  17. The tail on that lineup is most of the line-up. Probably means a reverse-lock 12-3 victory. Short should really be playing short, just for aesthetic purposes. The most impressive thing about the win yesterday is that they did it with the regular home jerseys. I wonder what their regular jerseys vs. City Connect jerseys record is at home this year.
  18. Abreu drawing 3 walks today is another instance of baseball being weird. Yoshi getting hot would be a really nice development.
