  1. Gotcha. Just don't like the fact that it takes Millar out of the running.
  2. Good guess Yeszir, that's Pesky and the man behind him is none other than Dom Dimagio. The photo was taken during the Ted Williams memorial last year at Fenway.
  3. I voted but in writing in Ortiz as a first baseman, (there is no DH this year), it knocks Kevin Millar out of the voting box. Do you know if there is a way you can vote for Ortiz without knocking Millar out of the voting?
  4. To answer your question, I will need to get into my time machine first, (courtesy H.G. Wells), and go to a few games in 1918. (IMHO) Whenever one measures a team for its greatness, you never get a definitive answer because stats can be expressed any way you want. In addition, the more subjective areas of sportsmanship, leadership, teamwork, unselfishness, chemistry, etc. cannot be measured except against one's own personal standards for sport. Anyway, I liked your question. Let's hope that this year's team will be the subject and winner of your and many other fans' "greatness" discussions in the years and decades ahead!
  5. I find watching Jeter's record-breaking hitless streak more exciting than watching Bonds; unfortunately, the MFY player just hit a homer against Zito a few moments ago. I had thoughts of ESPN, (as they do for Bonds on a tear), cutting away from their prime time hockey game so the fans could watch the MFY player go for the record.
