  1. You guys seriously think that we are winning because we don't have Nomar? If anything, the team can only do BETTER with his presence. Nomar means the Red Sox, he's the franchise player (no matter what fans say who think he's worthless). You think we're good now, just wait.
  2. Right, the only pitching downside all season was the horrible excuse for a game, but I think its a learning experience now. Schilling knows his limitations inning and pitch count wise, and Francona learned from the fans that he needs to step it up and take action, even if players disagree with him.
  3. Damnit. Pretty soon, all of the sox games will be double headers. Do you think Steiny is buying out the weather to rain on our parade?
  4. As you said, albeit in a much longer post than mine is bound to be ( ), we sox fans are more passionate than any others out there. Sure Cubs fans are great, just not as great as we are. Their ballpark may be a little more comfortable, but I wouldn't trade Fenway for the world. And the comparisons you made were spot on. Its comforting to know that no matter how pathetic our drought is, the Cubs are even more pathetic. (patheticer?)
  5. http://www.festiveflagz.co.uk/larger%20images/HAPPY%20BIRTHDAY.jpg I'm wearing mine right now to celebrate.
  6. And there endeth a streak. No more consecutive scoreless innings by starters. No more chance for record breaking 4th shutout in a row. Damn you D-Lowe! But the most important streak is still alive. The winning streak that is, we're up by 3 in the first. Come on, lets not let them get more than they have.
  7. Right, these games count the same as games in late september. A win is a win is a win if its against the D-Rays in april or the yankees in september. Its all the same in the standings.
  8. Wow. Duffycliff, that was a GREAT post. It took me a good 5 minutes to wade through, I can only imagine how long it took to type/research. Anyway, I can see that you're bitter against Clemens, but you make a good argument. I'm much happier that Clemens left and we got Pedro. He's a much more dominant strikeout pitcher as you have proven. As for RJ though, he may pass Carlton, but not clemens. Clemens is still active and could get 200 k's this season (possibly), and Johnson needs what, 212 ro tatch up to him at this point? So he'll need to have about 400 more strikeouts than Clemens for the rest of their careers. I dont think that'll happen. Although it would be nice to see.
  9. But if they get one win, it all changes. I've already detected the doomsday attitutes shrinking away.
  10. Nice, Varitek having a breakout game. Another RBI for him. But doesnt it always seem that ortiz is always on second when someone hits a single, and he can never score and always ends up being held because he's so slow? It just seems that way to me.
  11. While it does give Varitek a rest from the gruelling position of catcher (far and away the most gruelling in baseball), I dont like to see him in there every 5th day either. Maybe once every 2 or 3 wake starts to give Tek a break. Mirabelli's throwing arm is his best quality I think. He certainly is not a great hitting catcher, and although he has ok decent, so does varitek. Rest is the only reason he should be in there, thats what a backup catcher is for.
  12. Lol, and I see redsoxrooter has taken it as his avatar.
  13. Unfortunately the yankees are winning as well, so we most likely wont have a chance to extend our lead over them. Oh well. How does the sox sweeping two series in a row sound? I like it. Schilling is pitching extremely well. I just hope he doesnt go too long, we saw what happened last time that happened. Hand it over to the bullpen soon tito, 24+ scoreless can't be wrong.
  14. Do you at least know the year of that brawl? That sounds like a pussy thing to do on Strawberry coke's part. Damn.
  15. Yes! Its tied, 3-3 now. I guess this is one of those things that'll never get solved really.
  16. This is actually something I've never really thought of before. And now that I think about it, it really seems like it would be a problem a lot of rookie pitchers would face. How do you go up to a guy whose been in the majors for longer than you've been alive (yea, an exageration I know) that hes giving the batters a good look at whats coming before he releases it? How do you argue with him when he wants a fastball in and you want a changeup away? I'm glad I'm not a rookie catcher, I'll tell you that much.
  17. I've known people who have run it and watched them suffer from various points along the race. It looks waaaaaay too gruelling for me. Why anyone would want to do that is beyond me. If you want to stay in shape, good, run along the carriage lane in shorter increments. You'll stay healthy and you won't need an IV and a wheelchair at the end. While I guess it is cool to say you run the Boston Marathon, it doesnt seem worth it to me.
  18. I'm just glad that it's time for baseball again. That off day killed me. Even if it is against the D-Rays, it's still baseball. We need to really beat up on them all season to get as many wins as possible. Its what we need to keep the yankees down.
  19. Yea, plus he just launched his site (there's another thread on his site). Someone obviously knocked some sense into him, or maybe being placed on irrevocable waivers was what did it. Whenever a team is willing to just give you away like that, you know something's wrong. He realized that it was shape up or ship out I guess.
  20. Surprise of all surprises, I was actually AT wrigley when Girardi announced that Kyle had died. It was my first visit to Chicago and wrigley. I was hoping to catch the game, but I understand that it was cancelled. That whole ordeal was so sad.
  21. Seeing Yankee fans boo Derek Jeter is one of the best things ever. For so long they've been talking about how great he is, how much of a leader, a clutch player, and all that other babble that they've spewed out. And now they boo him! I love it I love it I love it.

That game looks plain awesome. I'm on the list of "sure to buy that game" soon enough. But as for the league, I dont think I'd be interested in it. It seems too time consuming for me. But you never know, I might change my mind.

    Boston

Its weird thinking that there's another Boston. That one seems so.... foreign. I guess thats because it is, but you get my point.
  24. I find that funny too. No one seems to care about the Bruins and the Celtics losing terribly. All that matters now is the Red Sox. I love it. Thats the way it should be.
  25. Red Sock. I'm with you roary!
