  1. Nothing more fun than making predictions, as long as these are deleted immediately if they're wrong... AL East: Yankees AL Central: Royals AL West: Angels Wild Card: Red Sox NL East: Braves NL Central: Cubs NL West: Padres Wild Card: Astros Playoffs: ALDS: Yankees over Royals, Angels over Red Sox NLDS: Braves over Astros, Cubs over Padres ALCS: Angels over Yankees NLCS: Braves over Cubs World Series: Angels over Braves Awards: AL Cy Young: Curt Schilling NL Cy Young: Kerry Wood AL MVP: Carlos Beltran NL MVP: Brian Giles AL ROY: Joe Mauer NL ROY: Kazuo Matsui I know I'll probably get a lot of questions, especially about the Braves, but that's ok, if I'm wrong I'm wrong, I can live with it, I just figure if the Marlins could do it last year, then the Braves can do it this year. As for the Angels, that's much easier to defend, given it's the same nucleus that won 2 years ago, plus Colon, Guillen, Vladi, and Escobar, whom I think is the real wild card, given that he's out of SkyDome and his era on turf last year was over 2 and half runs higher than it was on grass fields.
  2. I remember watching that game and was thrilled when Everett got that hit, because remember at that point the Sox still had a slight chance to win the AL East, and they were only down 1-0 at that point, so they still had a chance to win. And even if the game had not been close and had had no meaning, I still wouldn't want to see the guy the Sox had tried to get in the prior offseason pitch a perfect game at Fenway. It would have been the ultimate stomach punch.
  3. No one does, and that's the point, this year was supposed to get them a lottery pick, and Ainge was headed down that path until he inexplicably traded for Atkins. If you're gonna tank the year then tank the year, don't go in between.
  4. Also Jason Schmidt, I know he's coming off surgery and is on the DL, but if you can mention Prior then Schmidt definitely deserves mention.
  5. At least they won when they shot 3's all day, it may not have been the greatest basketball but they were winning team that Ainge unnecessarily broke up. I can see dealing Antoine maybe, but not to get a guy like Raef to come in, injury or no injury, who has $35 million more left on his contract than Antoine. That trade made sense neither in financial terms nor in basketball terms.
  6. Yeah the Celts are in, but if they get matched up with Indiana, Detroit, or a healthy New Jersey, they're done in 4, and because they're not gonna make it to the 5 seed with 6 games left, they'll get swept in the playoffs and cost themselves the lottery. As for Chucky, sure he's good, but he's the reason the team will be good enough to make the playoffs, and they're aren't good enough to advance, meaning they're stuck in that horrible no man's land of too good for the lottery and not good enough to win in the playoffs.
