  1. Today is the day where we take over 1st place in the AL East and don't relinquish it.
  2. AL East standings: Team W L PCT. GB Orioles 9 6 .600 - Red Sox 9 6 .600 - Blue Jays 9 7 .563 0.5 Yankees 6 9 .400 3.0 Devil Rays 5 10 .333 4.0 First place
  3. 10 before the first out was recorded. I was there.
  4. What a boring game thread. But a good game nonetheless.
  5. That looked painful. Anything that makes you fall to your knees and grab your crotch in front of 50,000 people can't be fun. I hope he gets better soon and returns to the field.
  6. Foulke is one of the top closers in the game. We have nothing to be worried about. The yankees have far greater cause for concern with Mo than we do with Keith. He's a fly ball pitcher who throws changeups, and sometimes that comes back to haunt him. Give him a game or two and all will be back to normal.
  7. A 6 man rotation doesn't necessarily have to be a 6 man rotation. We could use one of the 6 guys as a spot starter, or bring him in for long relief on consecutive days. It's obvious that our pen isn't performing too well, so a solid guy with stamina may help. That said, I think it makes the most sense to put Wake in the pen since he can come in in any situation and help out.
  8. The blame for this game can be rested on Embree. 1 out of 10 times defensive replacements will come back to bite you, but the other 9 times they help much more than they hurt. You can't really fault Francona for doing that. If Manny had dropped a fly ball in the 8th and 2 runs had scored, we would all be blaming Francona for not taking him out.
  9. I don't think I've had a chance to welcome you to the site, so welcome.
  10. Sweet stuff. Often it seems that wake doesn't get enough respect.
  11. We beat up on the D-Rays and it seemed to have turned us around, I see no reason why it can't do the same for the Yankees. We knew they were gonna snap out of it at some point, and although they may not have scored 13 in the 2nd against any other team, they probably would have won facing most. Steinbrenner is about ready to kill someone now, and his team had to get it together. Don't be surprised if and when they sweep. But giving up 8 runs to the D-Rays is pretty embarassing.
  12. Let's not forget that he struck out 10 through 5 in his second start of the season. 2 of his runs were unearned, due to the bad combination of the sun and Manny Ramirez. Without that prolonged inning, he could have gone 6 with the same pitch count. Techsoldaten made a good point in mentioning that Schill had next to no spring. I'm certainly not freaking out about Schilling, especially not after having attended both of his first two starts (I just need to keep rubbing that in ). StrassRI's prediction is probably right, provided Schill can keep his pitch count lower than he has been.
  13. So the contest is over, a winner will be announced shortly.
  14. I was just thinking it to myself two days ago at the sox game when he was profiled in one of those "Red Sox Greats" bits they do on the jumbotron. Welcome to the site.
  15. Eeeeeew, the yankees back door is open?
  16. I knew that..... I just wanted to let other people know.... That's it. Welcome again though.
  17. Welcome to the site man, glad you decided to post.
  18. The game was kinda boring until the whole hullabaloo over Manny's home run.
  19. I'm goooooooooing I'm goooooooooooing. This will be the first two Schilling starts that I'm attending.
  20. Welcome to talksox.com!
  21. Good stuff. Although it seems like our pitching prospects never really develop.
  22. Hehe, sweet. You're brother must have been confused.
  23. But, the sad part is, we know this won't last. It seems that every year Steinbrenner blows up over something. The team is too good to keep sucking this bad.
  24. Why can't we play the D-Rays every game of the season?
  25. If Kazmir continues struggling to hit the strike zone, then we should have no trouble beating him. We loaded the bases without even having a hit. It's only a matter of time before we capitalize on these situations.
