  1. To be honest I've heard both yes and no on that question. But I'm not familiar enough with what power Bud's office does and doesn't have in a situation like this to answer that. Maybe somebody with better knowledge would know.
  2. I've had people tell me that Bud's biggest fear is that he makes the decision on what is to be compensation and then either one or both sides tells him to go f*** himself. In which case there's really nothing he can do.
  3. Yes indeed. Another stroke of Blunder genius.
  4. Manny was a much better leader, too.
  5. Many of our friends here aren't going to want to answer that question. You'll get plenty of crickets on that one.
  6. There are four major reasons why Blunder was jettisoned unceremoniously--2008, 09, 10, and 11. Blunder bitched, moaned and stomped his feet until Big Daddy gave him the keys to the car 'solo,' and just like a lot of us (and Larry) predicted, he immediately embarked on a clueless path of destruction which ultimately ended up driving this franchise off a cliff. He is arguably the most incompetent exec. operating in the game today. The poor Cubbies will find out very soon just how bad he is.
  7. Completely irrelevant.
  8. No need to worry, my friend. My credibility is in very good standing wherever I go. Yours?
  9. If I had to vote i'd say #3 fits him best but since we haven't heard from him and he hasn't reported to camp let's hope to god we're finally done with him once and for all--and if that's the case a new nickname won't really be necessary because he'll become and after thought very quickly.
  10. They brought him, if you remember, to "save Jacoby's legs" according to our dearly departed dope of a GM. It will go down as one of the dumbest comments ever made by a baseball executive---and that's saying something.
  11. Wow! That's all I can say.
  12. While I agree with everything SCM is saying I think in the 'bigger picture' we have to look at what the real problem stemmed from, and that's that everyone, from Henry to Lucchino to Epstein to Francona to Varitek to the players themselves---lost control of the situation and not a single one knew how to stop it. And that's scary because it's these exact same people at the top who are now trying to fix it. IMO, anyone who thinks this team is just going to fall into line and gel under Valentine, step up and make a playoff run is setting themselves up for a major disappointment. As we can see in Beckett's comments today about him holding "ill will towards certain people" this thing has very deep roots, and is far from being over. I agree with SCM that BV is gonna need all the luck he can muster. This is still a very dysfunctional situation on so many levels it isn't funny.
  13. As it turned out the C stood for Clown, not Captain.
  14. There's a first time for everything. Isn't there?
  15. Sounds like Josh pulled a fast one on the media members. LOL
  16. Of course. A lot of them. But some I don't, and some I haven't in the past. It all depends on the player. As it should with anyone.
  17. Not even a little. Couldn't stand him.
  18. He had a very good season going last year, IMO. That is until he turned into the Michelin Tire Man and quit on his team. That's what concerns me about this year. Historically he has tanked badly during even numbered years. And history is correct a lot more often than any of us are.
