He’s had a couple starts where he was done after the first inning. Yanks and I think he had a couple others that really brought him down. But he’s usually a pitcher that gets you 6 or 7 innings and maybe gives up 3 runs in that game. Far better than a lot of 3rd and 4th guys get you. With this offense last year that got us a lot of wins. This year with our bullpen. Not so much.
When he is rolling all his pitches are working for him and that is what makes him so dangerous especially in his CY YOUNG year. Trouble is. He gets inside his own head when is breaking ball or slider isn’t working. Seems once one of his pitches isn’t working he goes to hell with everything. Like the Yanks game.
Sometimes his command is off and he will double his pitch count in an inning. He usually delivers us 6 innings plus though so I’m usually happy with his performance. The yankee game was a s*** show though. But games like that happen. Ask Sale. He’s been brutal his last 3 starts.
Which is normal when it’s not working or your command is off. Like how Sale went away from the fastball at the beginning of the year. His velocity was s***
Sometimes it takes Porcello an inning or two to adjust. He usually seems to give up an early homer and then adjusts. I didn’t see what you meant the first inning but I was also feeding my son so can’t say I was glued to it. But he looks ok here.
Well I used to play baseball and pitch so I also know what I’m looking at. I don’t see what you are seeing at all. He had a bad out against the Yankees I’ll give you that. It happens. Nothing to do wit today. “You look at results” well ya.... a pitcher going 9 innings of shut out baseball while he is “rolling” his breaking ball. I could give a s*** if it gets the win. Porcello when on is fantastic. Unfortunately he can have some dud games too where he gets inside his head.
Cool story. He f***ing dominated Houston and Minnesota earlier this year. Minnesota is still a baseball tram with professionals on it. And it was a quick inning for him. No clue what you mean by flat. Looked fine to me.
Edit. Meant to say Detroit is still a professional baseball team.
It comes down to who we want to play in the wild card. I don’t want to play Tampa, Oakland, Texas or Cleveland. I want to play Kansas City. So let’s cheer them on to a win streak shall we.
